This is pretty funny. The MBA M1 destroys nothing here. Sounds like you're trying to make yourself feel better for buying a tiny laptop that throttles the CPU due to a fanless design, that you cannot upgrade and has only 2 ports that you can't really do much with without dongles galore.

As far as speed goes, why not lookup Geekbench scores for both laptops and decide for yourself.

To be honest, while you want to compare the two laptops, they're not really in the same class. If your MBA M1 does what you need, great. But I don't really understand why you feel the need to discredit this laptop and deal other than to just make yourself feel better about your purchase.

Dude lol stop. You're just making yourself look foolish. Nobody cares what you get from your macbook air in a gaming laptop thread.

I have an M1 MBA as well and love it but you're right. There's no reason to compare the two at all. This is a gaming laptop, that isn't, not even close. (although I will say throttling isn't an issue on the M1 MBA)

I was considering the ASUS rog zephyrus. or Razer blade 14. It seems to have similar specs at least in terms of graphics, ram and storage. Which one would you recommend?

Was this the exact same one that was selling for $1499 like a month ago? Heh kinda funny the battery is just under the legal limit to carry on a plane.

May wish to avoid - seem that they have serious Wi-Fi issues amongst other problems!

What's your use case? If all that is similar, I would probably look at the display. This one is highly rated, and calibrated, but it is 60hz and glossy. People say that 4k is almost a gimmick at this screen size, but I enjoy the insane pixel density.
I wanted an OLED for my use case - I play gorgeous games like RDR2 and I game in the dark, so glossy is fine; I also don't mind 60fps (probably hard to drive 60 depending, let alone 60+ fps).

Mainly for gaming. And doing some day to day coding on the side.

I got this recently and returned.

Pros: 1) Awesome screen, there is nothing like it out there. 2) Keyboard 3) Touchpad (mac like)

Cons: 1) Processor runs too hot, 2) Gigabyte Control Center is poorly designed (bugs)

Reason for return, even using the browser kicks off the fan, and it goes on-and-off just scrolling

I bought a Macbook Pro instead and got Parallels 17. ARM Windows satisfies most of my needs, including playing games on low setting.

meh, just got an M1 macbook air for $1k with 512gb. aside from the OLED screen, the MBA destroys this laptop in speed, power, and build quality. not to mention the design as well, even if the MBA is long in the tooth.

My biggest concern is thermals too, my two previous two laptops run hot and I'd rather not have that. I know it's a trade-off when buying a "gaming"/"creator" laptop. But at least keep the thermals at a reasonable level while doing basic tasks.
