Didn't see this posted, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Retails for $399.99, but I believe it originally retailed for $299.99, so technically not a huge discount. Also, with the ongoing GPU crisis, this product may seem worthless to most. However, I recently picked up both a Razer Blade Stealth and a GPU, so I jumped on it. If you're eligible for the $15 off credit via the Amazon app, it makes it even better.

Bought this open box for $196 after 20% Amazon warehouse discount back in April. Bought acceptable condition and the outer casing was barely scratched.

My EVGA RTX 3080 runs about 5 degrees cooler without the outer casing on, so I usually run it like that. Performance hit through Thunderbolt is barely noticeable, but I'm not running crazy demanding AAA games.

When mining ETH, it loses around 5 MH/s compared to if running direct on a motherboard.
This is the barebone version not the Core X Chroma with extra usb ports.

As a unit itself. It supports charging. So if you have a macbook, this will charge your macbook with extra gpu processing and external display hooked up to just a single thunderbolt 3 cable.

As someone said, compatibility with mac osx and nvidia is not built in. only amd radeon graphics. so if you have that setup, it requires some tinkering
3 camels says lowest price ever and lowest price below $300 in past 6-months. If you're in the market, this is a good price.

a year ago I thought it'd be great for my MacBook, but compatibility with nvidia and macOS is a deal breaker.

If I hadn't adopted a full tower, this would have been it. Ended up grabbing a 3080 and just building a new pc.

My Zotac Amp Box is working great, got it a month ago for $750 with a 3060 Ti preinstalled. It goes in stock regularly.

When I was researching these in late 2019, I found a lot of complaints about the USB hub in the Chroma version. Basic consensus was the slow, unreliable response made it useless for peripherals like mouse and keyboard. So basically all you're paying for in the Chroma is the pretty lights and 50W more power. But the 650W in this is more than enough for even the most powerful GPUs.

That was a while ago, so the USB issues may have been fixed. But it's something to look into if you're considering the Chroma over this.

Nice, I thought about jumping on that deal, but I heard a lot of inconsistent reports about the "Used -Acceptable" units, with some being flawless while others having major dents and dings on the case.

I have been using Chroma version for 1 year now. No issues. Actually I was using one without USB hub and I had to return it. My 2 cents if you are a power user that needs to be portable, buy an EGPU with USB hub. It will make the experience smooth and clean, no messy cables/dongles hanging out for your peripherals. Plug & play, super clean setup. Only upside no downside. Very good investment.

Have two of these boxes (one with RX580 for Mac, and one with GTX 1070 for Windows TB3 laptop) - egpu.io (see /best-egpu-buyers-guide ) still ranks it very high

I used to think these eGPU cases were way overpriced for no reason. I now realize the PICe to TB3 converter cards are at least $150-200 on their own. Why though?

I mean if you compare that to the price of the enclosure it basically works out. $150 for a PCIe to TB3 converter board, another $150 for the case, power supply and various little accessories here and there.
