If you're wondering the difference between the XM3's and the XM4's, RTINGS wrote "The Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless have more features than the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless. The WH-1000XM4 support multi-device pairing, have a longer continuous battery life, and they offer some additional talk-through control options. However, the WH-1000XM3 are a somewhat better choice for neutral listening, as they have a more neutral, less bass-heavy default sound profile and a more consistent audio delivery. They also come with a Virtual Surround feature, which the WH-1000XM4 lacks." At this price though the XM4's are $100 more (on sale) and I can't justify that difference.

Edit:
One more question regarding apple music audio..which headset is preferable?
For that reason, I still go back to qc35 from time to time. But xm3 and 4 are better at reducing the "underwater" feeling when anc is on

Thanks again!

"However, they don't emphasize sound in the same way: where the WH-1000XM4 offers a more neutral output, the WH-1000XM3 boosts bass output by around 5dB. This means the sounds of instruments like drums and bass guitars, and various low-end sounds that pop up in EDM can sound almost 50% louder, depending on where they fall on the frequency spectrum....the sound profiles of the Sony WH-1000XM4 and Sony WH-1000XM3 are tailored to different audiences....if you're used to just grabbing any old headphones off the rack, this kind of frequency response probably won't sound all that off to you. If you're more of an audiophile, the more neutral-leaning of the WH-1000XM4 is probably preferable. "
And Tom's Guide:
"Sony has done a stellar job balancing sound on both headphones, providing plenty of boom and room to hear subtle nuances in complex records. Having ANC mode enabled doesn't hinder performance either, with mids and highs still sounding crisp.
The bass levels are slightly raised on the WH-1000XM4, which you'll notice most on hip-hop songs; kicks and snares have more oomph to them."
Andriod Authority:
"Don't get us wrong, both the Sony WH-1000XM3 and WH-1000XM4 sound great. They're accurate across the entire sound spectrum, and just about any music will sound spot-on and accurate. However, the two pairs are not identical in their sound emphasis. The WH-1000XM4 offers a neutral-leaning sound, while the WH-1000XM3 boosts the bass by around 5dB, which makes a perceptible difference. Ultimately, this means that drums and bass guitars will sound a bit louder on the older pair, and it might be the go-to for EDM lovers."
So I know sound is subjective, but half the reviews I've read say the 1000XM4 are more neutral, with the 1000XM3 having a more "commercial" bass bump, while the other half say vice-versa.
I know my ears probably can't tell the difference- I do own the 1000XM4, and they seem more neutral than other headphones in my stable- but I've never had/listened to the 1000XM3s.

XM3's are probably only worth $120, assuming you're not taking advantage of some other promotion
