This is incorrect information. Pretty much every hotswap keyboard uses kailh hotswap sockets. The switches used here are also kailh, which are cherry mx style switches compatible with virtually all hotswap keyboards from cheap boards like this to $1000 boards. The only boards they won't work in are the very rare optical keyboards that are starting to come out. In fact, they are 3 pin switches so you don't even need to clip them to fit in any pcb/plate combo. The other types of hotswap sockets are mill max which are diy and the recently released gateron hotswap sockets, which will also work with the same cherry mx style switches that these kailh switches are. I understand it's easy to get keyboard details wrong. Cherry, gateron, kailh, Varmilo, ttc, zealios, or any other cherry mx style switch will work here.

Linear means as you push the key down, it goes down smoothly and evenly. At some point in that process, it activates, and sends that letter to the computer, but there is no tactile or audio feedback from the keyboard as to when that is.

Clicky means that the keys are designed to create an audible click noise when the signal is sent to the computer, so you can hear and feel when you've pushed a key far enough to type a letter.

Linear is typically preferred for gaming, because if you need to do something like tap a key rapidly over and over, it's easier to just quietly slide the key up and down over that activation point. Clicky switches are sometimes preferred for typing (writing, coding, etc) as they give you clearer feedback and rhythm for typing quickly. You know if you miss a key etc.

Be aware that Clicky switches can be very loud and annoying if you have housemates, and are pretty much a no go in a shared office, as they tend to annoy other people that can hear them. There's also a type of switch called tactile that lets you feel when the switch activates without intentionally generating an audible click.

Linear, clicky and tactile switches are often referred to generally as Reds, Blues and Browns respectively, as those were the most common versions of those switches from the keyboard company Cherry. The versions on these EVGA keyboard are "speed" switches, which means you don't need to push the keys down as far to send letters to the computer, allowing you to spend less time and effort hitting each key, but it also means they may be too sensitive to rest your fingers on the keys etc if you're not used to it.

Advise from an old man. Buy a great keyboard once cause you can keep it for years. I still have my G710 from 2015. Not a single key has faded and still working like a champ. So dont just buy any keyboard.

You're thinking of Outemu switches not being compatible, not Kailh.

Man, I rocked a G710+ with Brown switches (with the built-in dampeners!) for a loooooong time. At least 6 years. The only reason why I switched was for a desire for change. Not at all because the keyboard was broken or flawed in any way. Went from that to a Razer Black Widow Elite and I'm not disappointed but that G710 was SOLID.

Does that mean get this because it's good and on sale or spend more money on a better one? lol

Got a clicky one of these recently, my advice is to buy it on sale like this and put the money saved into new switches. I still have the clickies on the numpad, but the 8 linear samples that came with it were garbage. I switched to silent box pinks and am now loving it. Also, the RGB software is pretty bad but usable.

Is the RGB required? Can you use it to program the board and then uninstall it?

this keyboard has been on sale for weeks for $70+ dollars off on multiple websites, and covered on youtube by multiple big reviewers and yet its STILL IN STOCK.

i feel like this is the gigabyte PSU of keyboards right now. super skeptical.
It's being overlooked because the people who are keyboard enthusiasts scoff at it for being ugly (which... they're not wrong) and full size. But if you ask them what's better or there, they'll point you to something at least triple the cost. Especially if you want a full size board.

The non keyboard enthusiasts don't understand what makes this board special compared to all the Razer, Corsair etc boards out there. You can customize this board as little or as much as you want to. You can drop in a complete set of Feker Holy Panda switches for $40 from Walmart ( https://www.walmart.com/ip/Feker-.../210857549 ) spend some time lubing those switches and the stabilizers, put some foam in the case, and you can have yourself a pretty incredible typing experience and (and gateway drug to a hobby) for less than $100. Or use the keyboard just as it is. It's not bad stock.

If you want a full size board, and don't mind the evga logo, go for it. The only other full size board in this price range I can think of that might make more sense for some people is the Hexgears Supernova at $45 from Amazon (if you're a prime member). It does not have the hotswap switches that make this EVGA board special, but it has an all metal top and bottom case, making it very solid, and if you like clicky switches the Kailh Box White switches they offer as option are some of the best out there: https://www.amazon.com/Hexgears-S...B07LFLX7NG

A casual keyboard enthusiasts review of the EVGA z15, for perspective: https://switchandclick.com/evga-z...-keyboard/

I know right? Best keyboard I ever owned. I get the desire for a change. It just works so good I cannot let go of it right now haha.

When ALT -F4 is pressed, the combined signal could lead to a detrimental conclusion.
