- Infinity R-263 towers at $199 (last time they were at sale)
- JBL Studio 580s at $350 (last time they were at sale)
Is is better than the R-263s at the same price? for what scenarios?
Are the 580s that much better to be worth a $300 premium? or the 590s worth a $600 premium?

R-263 vs 570s, I imagine, would be somewhat similar, though they do sound a little different from one another. You'd have to listen yourself. What I'll add though is that the dimensions are very, very different, so how it looks in your space may be equally important.
Bigger speakers, especially in the same product line, are always going to sound better. However, your room size and distance may not call for a larger speaker, and if you have a subwoofer you may not need a larger speaker either.
Personally, if WAF wasn't as big of a requirement, I'd have gone with larger speakers in my setup than what I have right now, but not all battles can be won lol
I tested a variety of speakers head-to-head including the 570s, Klipsch RP-5000F, and similarly sized speakers from Sony SS-CS3, Polk Monitor, and PSB Alpha T-20s.
For the price (all were purchased on sale), the JBL were the best fit. However, I later changed to Klipsch since I liked them slightly better and found them on suuuuuper-sale (even cheaper than this price for JBL).
