For anyone not familiar with speakers, JBL has been making quality stage speakers for ages. I've never seen a vertically oriented horn like this, but I'd imagine it sounds great when you point it correctly. It's going to be more sensitive to left/right orientations unless there's some tech that compensates for that!

The same 5-1/4" woofer in the Studio 530 provides a shocking amount of clean bass for its size. Two of those in this speaker. I have full confidence in the stated frequency response of 45Hz-40kHz, but unfortunately those are (-6dB) numbers.

As far as towers go, these are really smol. I use one as a center under my screen as an upgrade to what the 520c is (only 4" woofers).

How do these compare to:
- Infinity R-263 towers at $199 (last time they were at sale)
- JBL Studio 580s at $350 (last time they were at sale)

Is is better than the R-263s at the same price? for what scenarios?
Are the 580s that much better to be worth a $300 premium? or the 590s worth a $600 premium?

I have the 530's , 580's and 590's. For small rooms where you sit close to the speakers the 530's and 570's are great or for a computer setup. I personally preferer the 580's sound in my room that is 24X16, both the 580's and 590's use same compression driver which is 2414H these go for are $106 by themselves at JBL. The 530's , 520c , and 570's use driver 2414H-1 a $56 driver. The difference is the 2414H HF driver is heavier and has a larger magnet thus has more output. I think the 590's would sound better in bigger rooms that way the huge woofers don't sound boomy. I think choosing between them is room dependent, for a better experience have dual subs and set speaker crossovers properly.

R-263 vs 570s, I imagine, would be somewhat similar, though they do sound a little different from one another. You'd have to listen yourself. What I'll add though is that the dimensions are very, very different, so how it looks in your space may be equally important.

Bigger speakers, especially in the same product line, are always going to sound better. However, your room size and distance may not call for a larger speaker, and if you have a subwoofer you may not need a larger speaker either.

Personally, if WAF wasn't as big of a requirement, I'd have gone with larger speakers in my setup than what I have right now, but not all battles can be won lol

I tested a variety of speakers head-to-head including the 570s, Klipsch RP-5000F, and similarly sized speakers from Sony SS-CS3, Polk Monitor, and PSB Alpha T-20s.
For the price (all were purchased on sale), the JBL were the best fit. However, I later changed to Klipsch since I liked them slightly better and found them on suuuuuper-sale (even cheaper than this price for JBL).
