For those who are new to these drones, please note that if you need an additional layer of safety with obstacle avoidance, the Air 2 is the least expensive model that offers front and rear and bottom obstacle avoidance. Mini / Mini 2 / SE don't have that; they just have an obstacle avoidance sensor on the bottom to prevent crash landing. That said, all drones need to be flown with care and that takes practice, even if there is obstacle avoidance feature available in your drone. But the point is that front and rear obstacle avoidance is really the only "substantial" safety feature missing from the Mini series. Otherwise, all Mini are fantastic value for money. The Mini 2 is definitely the best of the three and often found in like-new condition off the famous e-commerce website in USA for a lot cheaper than buying a new one.

At this price point and for everything your getting with the drone, a 2.7k camera is plenty. This drone isn't meant for commercial or even prosumer levels of drone photography and videography, that's where you start getting into the Air 2 and higher end DJI drones. It's perfect for hobbyist and first time flyers!

Been thinking Ill be asking for a drone around the holiday time. Will see what comes BF perhaps. Any good info on beginners resources for getting into using the dji mini drones. Was looking at the mini 2 before the se came out.

LOL, right. No 8K OLED? Fogettaboutit. I thought the Costco Mini 2 was a better deal. Holding out for Air 2s though.

Learn to fly patiently, take your time getting used to it. After several dozen flying hours most people can control a drone with precision enough not to crash under normal conditions, but I've met a guy with a 1-week-old Air 2s that he's crashed into a tree and then into the side of a 5-story building, dropping some 50+ feet (he showed me the footage, lol.) The sensors won't save you from stupidity.

Just bought the DJI mini 2 from Costco deal for 400 dollars. Admitting being very novice in drone flying, wondering is this still better or what I bought for $400? Should I return the Costco and get this?

Do you want Iphone 12 or Iphone 10? Same reason I am waiting for Air 2s sale instead of Air.
IMO for what its worth and its worth nothing, I would have gotten the Costco deal and be happy with newer(not necessarily) and better Mini 2.

Mini 2 is better than Mini. 4K Camera, improved transmission range ( OccuSync vs WiFi) etc

I also got the Mini 2 bundle from Costco. Just occusync alone is worth the extra money.

I have the Mini and tried it out last year on a trip to the Philippines and got some nice footage. Was able to fly it almost a mile out at about 200-400m high in relation to the ground. Struggled with the wind and reception but didn't lose it so it was a win. Had the Mavic Pro and feel like this does just about a good of a job with all of the extras for much less. Great deal for beginners and if you just want to be able to take a drone anywhere.

I think the DJI Mini 2 from Costco with the carrying case + extra battery (not Fly More combo) for $439.99 [costco.com] is a better deal. But yeah, at $349 this is an even lower entry point for a more advanced drone (in this price range) with good picture and video capabilities.
