First, for someone just getting into mechanical keyboards, this is a fantastic board at a fantastic price. I won't comment on the linear switches (I hate linears) but the bronze clicky switches are good. I'll be swapping mine out (probably Kailh box jades or box pinks), but for a beginner these are a great start.
Is the EVGA logo ugly? Sure is, but not as bad as people are making it out to be. Build quality is good, and you can't beat a 3 year warranty, especially with EVGA backing it up.
The key caps areā¦ well, they are what they are. If you like RGB, get a set of pudding caps. If you want PBT doubleshot, you have plenty of options. It's a standard layout and your only limit is how much you want to spend.
All in all? Not my favorite board I own, but one I have NO problem with spending the $50 on. $50 for the board, $50 in switches and $30 in key caps and you have a very nice board that will last you a while.

$50 is pretty good for a real mech keyboard but you can get better keyboards if input lag is a primary consideration for you.
