On that note, does anyone know what the official model number for this particular Google Nest Learning Thermostat is? My electric company offers a small rebate for the following models:

T3007ES
T3016US
T3017US
T3021US
T3007EF

Thanks.

PSEG Utility company and some other company's give a instant rebate on there website for Thermostat and accessories. Currently they sell the thermostat for $149 and the Sensor for $39. Sometimes there prices are cheaper, but for now, it's cheaper or same price! https://marketplace.pseg.com/

Can the experts comment on the price ? Is this as good as it gets or Black Friday round the corner could have better pricing ? Thanks.

Don't be rude. It's a legitimate question as one is named Google Nest Thermostat and the other is Google Nest Learning Thermostat.

Certain utilities will pay you yearly instead of a one time pay out. Check on yours because after a while it will make it back plus more.

Same question. I heard the nest are unreliable? Any long term users can weigh in?

It won't get much better. Higher intl. shipping prices, parts shortages, and price manipulation will make prices higher for everything across the board. Even this site reflects that, they should rename it "Slick (Few And Far Between) Deals".

when I was doing research on this before I bought my nest years ago. I believe the basic idea is that the Nest is "learning" so it starts to learn your pattern and automatically set the temp. Ecobee is more traditional where you set your temp based on time and days of the week.

you can still set a schedule in Nest (kinda clunky imo) but the whole idea is it learns so you don't have to set it.

This is the lowest price for the 3rd gen + a sensor. If black is OK, it's $10 cheaper at Costco warehouses. If you have no use for the sensor, you can sell it and make your out of pocket cost even lower.

I installed 2 of these before the pandemic, and the learning feature worked great when kids were at school, we were at work, etc. After the lockdown, I ended up disabling it since all its learned patterns were inaccurate. Now, the only thing it knows is "this dude doesn't go downstairs much during the day; set that one to away mode" laugh out loud

The two I have are working perfectly fine without a C wire. I've seen some videos and forum posts showing issues with WiFi signal loss, random restarts, etc without a C wire, but I didn't experience any of that luckily.
