I understand the concept you are referring to, it hurts more psychologically to pay with cash than credit for instance, but if you are concerned about the time savings between swiping a card and tapping it, then you are missing the point. By the time you are at the register, you've already made the decision to buy regardless of payment method...
Did you know that watermelon is a great summer snack?

Okay, I strictly use cards, not cash, but this is not an accurate depiction of reality. If you are carrying and using only cash, you'll have to count it frequently, and before you walk into that store, you'll already be mindful of how much you have, and psychologically you'll be more keen on the prices of things you're putting in your cart.

Moreover, after you checkout, and use the cash, you'll then visually see a decrease in the physical money you have. This will act as a potential deterrent in you stopping at another store, or fast-food, on your way home.
That ship has sailed. I very rarely pay with cash these days, mainly to refill laundry cards, register tips and donations, and maybe a convenience store snack. It's SOOOOO much easier to use plastic or an app. I get that cash makes purchase management easier, but not by THAT much. Plus cash and coins are filthy.

My previous spending habit: 90% cash, 10% card. It is the opposite since the start of pandemic, about 95% card, 5% cash. Gasoline cash discount is a lot more than CC reward points so I use cash. The rest is plastic.

To each their own. One other problem with cash is that it slows down the line at the register, at least with people who tend to use it. Pull out wallet, look for and count out correct bills and/or change, hand to cashier, who these days typically struggles to make change because people have become dumber over the years, take change, store bills and change separately, put wallet back, move on. It's like a whole ritual that's infuriatingly slow. All the more so if they're older and slower. When I lived in Seattle it was even worse as many folks still paid by check at registers even for low cost items. It was a weird cultural thing I attributed to the native Scandinavians' anal-retensive nature.

Plastic and apps are better in basically every way.

I am a 100% card user too, never have more than $40 cash on me. But I grew up in a country where until I moved to the US almost everything was paid with cash. And paying using tangible paper momey is definitely something that keeps you mindful of your spending.

While ok to get this deal...its not advisable to make paying an even easier job without much thought from our perspective (not to mention the security aspect)...which is what they are after...
You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm not sure how tapping is any easier than pushing your card in the machine. They're both pretty darn easy.

same here. only use cash at laundromat, church donation, street food trucks, etc. plastic is a must if you wanna make a bit back from purchases. for groceries, 5% CB on chase, 3% CB on amex, 2% department stores on amex, crazy good rewards from Gap for using their card for outside purchases.

I disagree about cash being more tangible (agree with being 100% card user - I rarely use cash). I'm more mindful of how I spend my money when I use a credit card. I tend not to splurge much, or spend much on restaurants, but being able to check my credit card account online also helps me evaluate how I'm spending money.

The bill each month also reminds me of what I spent on ... and allows me to total up all I'm spending in different categories -- which alerts me to whether I'm spending more than I think I should in each category.

The street food truck that always parks nearby me now accepts Apple Pay. They have great authentic tacos.

Practically the only place that I have a need for cash is the laundromat.

Even my weed dealer takes digital payments now.

I got the offer on my Chase Freedom, so now I just have to remember to make 3 small purchases on it within the next month or two.

$10 is $10 and I'll gladly take it.

just so you know. all costco visa cards are contactless both at instore checkout and their gas stations. just tap and go.
Yes, but Costco's card is through Citi, so irrelevant to this offer...
