Looks like Amazon price-matched the sale at Newegg. Great price for a great NVMe SSD. The smaller variations are also priced great!

SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB [amazon.com] $270
SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB [amazon.com] $145
SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 500GB [amazon.com] $80

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I wanted to buy one and was considering it seriously. But, after reading the article at link below indicating that the performance has degraded heavily due to the controller change without changing the model number, I won't be buying anytime soon. Otherwise, I would be buying with some expectations based on Tech reviews, and getting much inferior product. I can not trust WD, Crucial, ADATA at all due to their shady practice of stealthily changing components to lower performance parts without changing the model number. Based on the comments at the bottom link WD SN750 is a suspect too. Can not trust the SSD manufacturers at this moment.

The 1TB version went as low as $136 on Amazon a few days ago, although $137 was where it stayed most of the week.

Is there a good/recommended PCIe card that can take 2 of these? I've got an ASROCK Z170 Extreme 6 mobo and need more storage.

Relying on brand reputation is a fruitless challenge I think. Just buy whatever reviews well and verify performance with benchmarks before the return window closes.
