SD, what has happened to you?
Realize that SoFi is going to sell your order flows. This means they will preferentially choose businesses to clear your orders so that you won't get the best deal on the open market, but rather the "best deal" from whoever buys your order flow. Every share you buy will have a couple cents skimmed off. That's why they are more than happy to pay a little for your naiveté.
A bunch of idiots got caught off guard when Robinhood engaged in illegal practices to protect market makers during the Gamestop surge; more idiots will be caught by this company. If you choose a business that makes more money from market makers than you, then they are going to protect the market makers over you.
Worth a shot for me, even though I never get the PayPal deal. That didn't cost me anything either.
