I got the one without the front on it a few weeks ago from HD for 79. I love it. I would like it better if they had spaces for additional batteries because as of right now you can't fit the 3ah or larger with the stem facing upwards into the slots, and when you put the stem downwards, they fit but don't sit flat. You could put them on the shelves, but I filled the shelves up already, and they really only miss fitting by maybe 1/8" or so. The back also isn't sealed all the way around, and my garage walls are painted bright white so you can see through some of the seams in the back, no biggie though. It is strong and looks awesome. Also, I like the ryobi green.
HD has a video on how to make one. I added the parts required and they ended up being over $60. I'd be interested in a plan where the supplies come out to less than $30.
I'd prefer that one but it's not in stock near me at HD. It's also on sale at DTO but only for pick up so I didn't mention it. Here's a link if anyone near a store wants one https://www.directtoolsoutlet.com...g/p/STH402
I don't mind the green but I have all different flavors of tools so it will look off regardless what color it is

looks nice but meh making a nicer one out of wood for way less and you don't have to conform to the vomit green ryobi colors
Oh....me too, let me go so I can buy the wood and then put it all together...and then finish it so that it doesn't get mold all over it.....finished it!, all done, and now I'm going to prime it and paint it purple (2 coats) so that I don't have to see that awful green. Much nicer than the Ryobi one that I could have just screwed onto my wall....I think, since I have 2 weeks off....I'll make 2 more. Now I'm working on making my own tool box and work bench....I'll get back to you around December when I'm half done.....just kidding(not), LOL.
The Home Depot listing says the dimensions are: 17 in W x 11 in H x 19 in D. This does not make sense? Is depth really 19"? Anyone can confirm the dimensions?

One of the few things that you can actually easily DIY, easier than a bird house.
Would you rather have a Chinese brand with yet another product made in China proudly hanging in your garage or would you rather have something made yourself, with American wood (hot) and for a fraction of the price?
Making a wood version of this is probably no more than $20, something you made and no part of it is supporting a horrible regime. If anything you're supporting blue collar workers that could really use our support with a very green, renewable resource, lumber which went from an environmental disaster to now countries like Norway, Sweden and Canada showing studies that it's our best physical renewable we have so even if you are a tree hugger, you can appreciate making one yourself.
Vote with your wallet. No matter how you feel about the world around us, its some of the best advice out there.. vote with your wallet, put your money in areas you feel deserve that. Middle class America needs this money, not a Chinese genocidal regime.

It's funny I called in to try to add an item to my order a few hours after it was placed and I was told they could not do that because it had already shipped. I laughed at the CS person we both know it wasn't shipped but I couldn't really prove it wasn't I ended up placing another order and they claimed shipping will be refunded on that order. Hope they weren't just blowing smoke!
Just checked my order from yesterday, order confirmation email to order shipped email was ~8 hours. 2-3 years ago things were rough with them, they've come a long way!

Every "I can make that myself for cheaper" has part costs subtracted because "I have cutoffs and miscellaneous parts around my shop" built into the argument.
It doesn't work for everyone because of this.
That said, we built a beautiful one at work out of 1/2" MDO ply with Kreg screws for no money… because it was all scrap cutoffs and miscellaneous parts from around the shop.

Although I'm fairly certain DJ's post is just trolling, a wood cabinet does not serve the same purpose as this. This is basically a metal box for battery and charger storage since lithium ion batteries are one of the single biggest causes of fires. Storage in a metal container reduces that risk immensely.
