Showing as $299.99 for me.

EDIT: gotta click on "Other sellers on Amazon" and then it's no longer eligible for Prime.

EDIT2: Also, price trackers show that this can be had for as low as about $260. I think I'll wait for a better deal. Shouldn't be long.

If you select the other seller. It looks like "Seagate brand" seller is selling for $289. I'm assuming that's what the poster was looking at.

Good drive but they are noisy. I have the exact same one I got for $275 before Chia came along.

Watch out with buying these from Amazon. I did and they were drives from a different region so all warranty had to be through the reseller.

I ended up buying them from BH Photo for $350 with a warranty from Seagate.

I purchased one of these a couple of weeks ago from "Seagate Brand" thru Amazon. Paid $300. Best price I had seen on a bare drive in months. It was shipped directly from Seagate, took about a week. Checking the serial number, 5 year warranty.

Paired this with another X16 14TB that was shucked from a "Expansion Drive". Paid $200 from BH earlier this year just before prices started going "Chia Crazy". In hindsight, wish I had ordered one more at the time. The two drives are running in RAID1 on a SansDigital USB enclosure attached to my network via a Raspberry Pi 4. Not the fastest or quietest but runs 7x24 and has been rock solid, no problems.

Now looking for a reasonably priced quality 4-6 bay NAS but haven't seen a good deal since Prime Days. Probably will have to for Black Friday. Hopefully the 14TB will be even lower then so I could then have a proper RAID5 configuration.

Lucky you. I had also placed an order w/ B&H for the 14TB external drive so I could shuck the 7200RPM Exos drive out, but unfortunately for me, mine has been on backorder since April and won't be arriving till Oct... They gave me multiple opportunities to exchange it for an alternative or request a refund, but at $200, I have enough patience to wait it out and see it through.

I got mine about a month ago after placing my order in April as well. Had the Exos 16x inside.

Check your packing slip carefully. Does it say something about RMA?

There is a scam going around where the "seller" submits an advance RMA warranty claim to Seagate using your name, address and a stolen/fake credit card. Seagate ships the drive to you, but they never get the old drive it was supposed to be a replacement for in which case they would attempt to charge the credit card for the full cost of the new drive. When that fails, the warranty is likely to be voided.

Invoice has Seagate logos and does not mention RMA anywhere. It was shipped from Mira Loma, CA. Includes a message at the top saying:

THANK YOU FOR PURCHASING FROM SEAGATE BRAND".

It looks legit to me.

Before ordering, I was concerned about whether this was an OEM drive. If there is a problem, believe worst case is Seagate limits warranty to one year (mine was manufactured in July 2021). Even at that, felt it was a better option than playing "shuck roulette" where you don't really know what you are going to receive and warranty is voided automatically after removing from the case.

Saying that, wonder why the name change to HyperHawk???

I recall reading about how small sellers are taking SMR drives out of some sort of Crypto mining rigs and selling them as new. Would this particular line of drives be vulnerable to this scheme? Considering that you have to choose "other sellers" in here, I do take pause in pursuing this deal.

I have been watching the price on this fall the last few months and was hoping it would reach my previous $264 price point (this vender for 4 of these so far) so I can fill the last two slots in my 1621+. This vender is 100% legit and used to be known as Seagate Brand (maybe Amazon forced the change?) I previously purchased two batches of two to spread out manufacturing dates and they easily registered for 5 years 1 month warranty on Seagate's website. On the East Coast they shipped from PA and took about 5-7 days to arrive via FedEx Ground. I presume they drop ship from closest warehouse. Packaging is spartan with small brown box and drive protectors inside another box.. Arrived perfect so no complaints.

BubRamone and goldenrool, thanks for posting your experiences with this seller.

The name "Seagate Brand" prevented me from buying drives from this seller a few weeks ago because it seemed like someone trying to pass himself off as the manufacturer. I'm not surprised the name was changed.

I'm reassured to hear people are not getting OEM drives with limited or voided warranties from this seller. Repped.

I've had so many Seagates die prematurely that I swore them off several years ago. Has there been any improvement to them in recent years?
