2nd just here to say how amazing an AC unit it is. Ended up moving to a house with central AC, and almost got what I paid for it too because they're still in high demand.

Just installed the 12,000btu model..it was nearly $250 after the cashback I was offerred through Honey and Lowe's gift card purchase to save more.

Super quiet. I mean, it's about as loud as a window fan.

How does that cashback work? Was that a one time deal?

They are great, I have an 8k in the BR but am looking for a 10k for the bigger living room.

You can also get the identical Danby 8K U shaped air conditioner from Costco for $359 . It is manufactured by Midea. Might be a better option for better returns.

I live in an area subject to hurricane-induced power outages. I needed an air conditioner that put out a lot of air but didn't use a ton of power. This machine at 8K BTU uses less power than most 5K BTU air conditioners. Additionally, the inverter technology allows it to throttle down the compressor instead of kicking on and off. Those surges in power draw are what make it difficult for a generator.

In my testing, this thing ran at 150W and slowly ramped up to about 510W. When I turned off all the eco settings and ran it at the maximum draw, I managed to 610W.

If you are looking for something you can run on a generator, I would look at an inverter air conditioner unit.

I tried sending it in amessage, but it appears it got deleted. I use Honey on a PC. They offer large cash back...$50 to $100 on large items. Then they offer discounted gift cards in the amount of your cart.

This is not really a deal if you are a costco member. Same exact unit under the Danby name at Costco for $339 shipped. I have the Danby unit from Costco, works amazing and even though it comes with it's own app, the Midea app is compatible if you prefer it (it can silence the beeping).
