The chances are that the virus will get to you before it gets to the filter. Live alone - that's the solution.

Thanks OP. Was $6.43 on my end. Ended up getting 6 to get free shipping (hopefully they don't get damaged in shipping).

Make sure your furnace is OK with 12 Merv. Higher filtration means more pressure on your blower motor and could lead to premature failure.

Also note that the lifetime of these 1" filters is rated at around 4-6 weeks. If you go for a 4" filter, they are usually rated for 6 months. I got a pair of 20x16x4 Filtrete filters [amazon.com] from Amazon Warehouse "like new" recently for $15. The 4" filters also have a much larger surface area so the associated static pressure is lower.

And if in doubt, remember the old axiom... if the angle of your dangle equals the sag of your bag then the throb on your knob is constant. Write that down in your notebooks, kids.

Says to change it out at 90 days. Where is the info that 4-6 weeks should be the life span?

Bought 6 online for $6.43 and decided to pick them up in store. Lady called like 3 managers over because they rang up at $16.47 and she didn't feel comfortable matching their own website. Still got the 6!

It says at least every 90 days, and at least every 12 months for 4" filters. I can't remember where I read the 4-6 weeks but the ratio between the 1" and 4" filters is the same - the 4" filters should last 4x longer. If one 1" filter costs $7.50, that would translate to $30/year, which is what the 4" filters regularly cost. So if you think this is a good deal, and your system can accommodate 4" filters, then you may want to switch to the 4-inchers.

This is a good deal. Though, if you don't find your size, check Nordic Pure on Amazon. Their MERV 12 filters are of comparable quality and cost about the same when you buy a pack of 6

In for 6, with 2 cats and a dog, I end up changing these around the 30 day mark. They're always completely gray.
