By consensus, the weekly Walgreen's Ad is being replaced by this comprehensive thread. Until Walgreen's gives us better deals, we'll be able to follow more easily all the comments in one continuous thread.

Please post any tips, deals, coupon finds to help us all improve our Walgreen's shopping experience.

Thanks to Sugraray for the reminder:

If it is a BUY deal, ex: Buy 2 and earn RR, you can use WCR, RR, MQ, IVC whatever you want and still will earn your reward.
If it is a SPEND deal, ex: Spend $12 earn $5 RR, be careful! You cannot use WCR because that is taken off before it totals your spend. Same with IVC coupons (Walgreens coupons, found in the little paper book and also digital). If you have RR, be sure it is the regular manufacturer RR with a normal large barcode. That is treated like a MQ so you do need an item without another coupon to attach to. The store RR have a small barcode and says Store Coupon and lowers your "Spend" amount.

Important Information not to be Ignored: Updating 8/8/2023 Restarting the Info thread.

If you have an issue in store, first come here and post about it. Do not run off to call Corporate because it can have unitended consequences.

(No longer available in store-The monthly book is in your DQ account coupons)
IVC is the paper coupon book found at the front of the store, new each month. Also available as digital store coupons. These are Walgreens coupons that can be paired- used at the same time as regular MQs.

At Walgreens, you must have one item for each coupon to attach to. For example: you are buying detergent, there is IVC for $1/1 and you have MQ $1/1. That is two coupons, so you need to add an item without a Q as a filler. Often Ramen, candy bar, sometimes tuna or broth.

Abbreviations:

DQs (Digital Coupons found on your account)
OTU (One Time Use)
OFY (Only For You-DQs)
Booster (Points coupons found digitally on your account or printed in store at the register's catalina machine)
PO or BOPIS (Pickup Order or Buy Online Pickup In Store)

Do I earn rewards on prescriptions?
You earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on the amount you spend out of pocket in our stores, including the amount you spend for a prescription. A prescription with a $0 copay won't earn Walgreens Cash rewards because you didn't pay anything out of pocket for the prescription. (Varies by State)

What do I need to redeem my Walgreens Cash rewards?
Your email or home address is required to redeem Walgreens Cash rewards. The best way to access personalized deals and additional program benefits is by adding your email address to your profile. - Your zip code is your redemption code.

You can earn 5% Walgreens Cash rewards on all Walgreens branded products. This means anytime you buy a product carrying the Walgreens brand name—including beauty products like facial cleansers or nail polish remover and health essentials like vitamins—you'll earn unlimited 5% Walgreens Cash rewards.

How does Pickup at Walgreens work?
Our Pickup service makes it easy to shop your local store online at Walgreens.com or with the Walgreens App, then pick up your order in as little as 30 minutes.4 Choose your store and shop products on Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App. Then choose curbside, drive-thru or in-store pickup. It's easy! We'll send you a notification email (and text if you opt in) when your order is ready, then visit the store and tap the "I'm here" button in the email or text link to let us know. A team member will bring the order to you.

How do I create a digital Wallet for contactless checkout? (Updated some areas have no access to this)

Join myWalgreens® and make sure you're using the latest version of the Walgreens App. Once you sign in to myWalgreens on the app, select your digital Wallet in the menu to add your credit card. Then you can start enjoying fast, contactless checkout!

Q & A

KikiandD Q:
"I am not a Walgreen's Extreme Couponer, though I aspire to be. I think you actually have to have a total over the booster threshold to get the points. Like, this week my digital booster amount is $30, so I have to actually spend that. I *think* that you can use register rewards in the store as part of your payment and it will still work, but I haven't gotten to this level yet. Still trying to amass register rewards.
Still a little confused about how it works if you use some Walgreen's bucks but still spend over the amount. I don't think that would work but I could be wrong. But another question, If you use Walgreen's bucks but still spend over $20 out of pocket, will that transaction count on your score card (meaning, do seven transactions of $20 or more in December, and earn an extra $10 in points)?"

Valencia22 A:

Yes, you can use Register Rewards to help cover your amount toward Boosters but you have to make sure that the ones you use say, Manufacture CPN at the top. Those count like coupons. You just have to make sure you have an item for each one to attach to. The Register Rewards that say Store CPN at the top work like store coupons so that amount would count against your total and only one can be used per transaction.

As far as boosters, the digital ones are more flexible to use than the printed ones. Printed ones, you can not use any Wags Cash and still earn the Booster. With the digital offers, as long as your subtotal before manufacture's coupons but after any Wags Cash/StoreCredit/Store Qs used is equal to or greater than the amount of your threshold, you can earn the Booster. To specifically answer your question about your 7 transactions, you don't have to spend $20 cash oop each time. Manufacture's coupons and RRs will count towards that $20. I did a transaction this week that may be a little bit more advanced but hopefully it will give you a better idea of what I am saying:
My Booster Offer was $5 wys $20 so I bought:

3 Snickers Bars $2.64 - $1/2 ip
2 Colgate Renewal $13.98 - $3 dq - $3 dq
2 BIC Razors $9.73 - $5 dq
2 Colgate Adv. $7.98 - $4/2 dq
2 Crest PH $6 - $2 mq - $2 mq
Subtotal: $40.33
I redeemed $20 in Wags Cash so now my total was $20.33 (still enough to earn Booster)
$20.33 - $20 qs = .33 + tax (paid oop)
I got back $9 WC ($5 = Booster, $4 = Colgate) $13 RR ($6 = Colgate Renewal, $4 = BIC and $3 = Crest). I also earned an extra $2 WC because I get 10% back all month for my birthday and I got .75 rebate offer for the Snickers

Wags can be confusing and irritating sometimes. I have had my share of failures but it gets a bit easier over time."

I wanted to return & rebuy 2 Revlon items, so that I could get the RR. The tags were up early on Saturday, so made the assumption it was that week's tags, since they've never put tags up early on a Saturday for Sunday's sale. Cashier said he couldn't help me then.

The manager had to come to help today. Her reasoning for earning RR was: you can't use a coupon, points and have a sale price all in the same transaction to receive a RR. No amount of discussion would make her change her mind. Finally, I think, to get me out of there, she gave me $5 in points.

So to prove to myself that I wasn't crazy, I got two clearance Revlon items, used two $4 RR, paid with $2 in points and the RR printed. Too bad that the SM wasn't there to witness it. My cashier was fine.

I have to force myself to keep shopping WAGS. My sanity is being tested.

Honest opinion, I think they are deliberately driving customers away. The article posted about SF closing 5 stores citing thefts is nonsense. I read an article in 19 that said that wags was debating on what stores to close between the UK & U.S. and chose the U.S.
to close 200 stores. They filed with the FEC regarding it. Not to mention that they had to close stores before the rite aid (glad it did) merger fell through because it was too many for Boots Alliance to have open. Now when I see more people having terrible problems with them, I'm inclined to believe it's because they want to have a reason to close the stores. The shift in online CS gave a clue as it was on IG that reps were suddenly giving people a hard time about getting rewards they were missing. Lying about adding points and dropping people out of chat on purpose. A poster here claimed nothing would change as she knew somebody close to the situation which turned out to be a lie. Walgreens has went downhill ever since roz brewer took over. And they claim that they will keep the majority of their staff. Based on what I was told previously, I suspect that wags & the unions are duking it out because it would mean less employees. The new mini stores focus mostly on pharmacy. If you ever been to one of those generic drugstores (like mini stores) before wags announced theirs, they are very small stores with basically nothing in them except for a couple shelves on either side with a few basic items. And CVS has mini pharmacy within target as you know.

So basically people don't see the deals are being killed off and their sole focus (businesses) is to profit off sick people.

I went today to buy Sheila G's Brownie brittle. It's on sale 2/$5 and there's a rebate for $1 per bag on a popular app. The cashier was very nice. I don't shop there much any more. They were remodeling the store and the hammering was a bit much so I didn't hang around to browse.

I was in an Oakland Safeway today, and the SCO attendant told me that there was a huge problem with shoplifting there. Some woman had a $200+ order that she scanned and then didn't pay for. Just walked out of the store. When the attendant said, "Maam, you didn't pay for that," the woman told her to f off. Apparently, thieves are getting bolder because the police won't bother to come even if called for shoplifting. Maybe there is some basis for Wags wanting to close stores in this area.

I've seen stuff like that happen in CVS, too. One day I was walking in as a guy came running out w/a hand basket full of stuff he'd not bothered to pay for. I asked the cashier why they didn't call the police, and her response was that they never did anything about it even when called.

They have a new law that they don't prosecute theft of $950 or under. So they feel brazen and empowered to steal.
I believe all the reports of them closing stores due to theft. They claim they lose $1,000 a day. They have already closed 17 or 19 stores and now plan to close 5 more in that area.

Workers are told not to confront the thieves. It puts them in too much physical danger. Police are understaffed and can't even go out on these calls. Thieves are far gone by the time police would get there. Its just a terrible situation whats happening these past few years.

eta That Sheila's Brownie Brittle is Yummmy!!! I've gotten it at my grocery store.

The reporting news outlet pulled the police reports regarding theft at the stores & the data proved what wags said wasn't true. FYI their stuff is insured from loss.

Here is the article citingthe police reports:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/walgre...57839.html

However, San Francisco Police Department data obtained by the Chronicle contradicts Walgreens' claims, with one of the stores slated to close reporting only 23 shoplifting incidents since 2018. Some incidents of shoplifting likely go unreported, but the closing stores had on average less than two shoplifting reports per month since 2018.

A couple questions in general:

1. Are you able to use more than one booster paper coupon? For example, I have a $5 wyb 20 and $ 7 wyb 35. Would I be able to have the cashier scan both if the total was $35?

2. Are you able to use store credit and still earn rewards (i.e. RR or WCR)?

People can be really dumb. They are using that $3 coupon on a product not intended for but could be getting the higher value products for almost free. They are the reason we have limits and a lot of stores hate couponers. They brag all over IG about using coupons on items not intended for.

1) no, it will not take both.

2) RRs yes, points no.

Here's an idea for a deal that I've been doing. Buy the Colgate in 2 separate transactions to get 2 $4 RRs.

Then buy 2 clearance Revlon face products, 2 clearance Revlon lip products, in whatever combination that equals greater than $20. Use 2 $3 Revlon face coupons, 2 $3 Revlon lip coupons, 2 $4 RRs (with 2 fillers, I've been using the clearanced meds). You'll get a $5 Revlon face RR, a $7 Revlon lip RR, and a coupon for $5 off your next cosmetic purchase (for buying more than $20 in cosmetics).

In the next transaction, buy Colgate and 2 clearanced Almay or Revlon, I bought 2 $4.49 Almay concealers, minus 2 $3 Almay face coupons, and used the $5 off cosmetics coupon, and the "overage" went towards the Colgate. You'll get a $4 Colgate RR and a $5 Revlon/Almay RR.

For an outlay of $10 to $12, you end up with a $4 Colgate RR, 2 $5 Revlon/Almay RRs, and a $7 Revlon RR.

You can view the ad in the Flipp app.
No clue why an outside app is showing it but wags isn't.
It appears there's a completely new ad format as well
