By consensus, the weekly Walgreen's Ad is being replaced by this comprehensive thread. Until Walgreen's gives us better deals, we'll be able to follow more easily all the comments in one continuous thread.

Please post any tips, deals, coupon finds to help us all improve our Walgreen's shopping experience.


Thanks to Sugraray for the reminder:

If it is a BUY deal, ex: Buy 2 and earn RR, you can use WCR, RR, MQ, IVC whatever you want and still will earn your reward.
If it is a SPEND deal, ex: Spend $12 earn $5 RR, be careful! You cannot use WCR because that is taken off before it totals your spend. Same with IVC coupons (Walgreens coupons, found in the little paper book and also digital). If you have RR, be sure it is the regular manufacturer RR with a normal large barcode. That is treated like a MQ so you do need an item without another coupon to attach to. The store RR have a small barcode and says Store Coupon and lowers your "Spend" amount.

IVC is the paper coupon book found at the front of the store, new each month. Also available as digital store coupons. These are Walgreens coupons that can be paired- used at the same time as regular MQs.

At Walgreens, you must have one item for each coupon to attach to. For example: you are buying detergent, there is IVC for $1/1 and you have MQ $1/1. That is two coupons, so you need to add an item without a Q as a filler. Often Ramen, candy bar, sometimes tuna or broth.



Abbreviations:

DQs (Digital Coupons found on your account)
OTU (One Time Use)
OFY (Only For You-DQs)
Booster (Points coupons found digitally on your account or printed in store at the register's catalina machine)
PO or BOPIS (Pickup Order or Buy Online Pickup In Store)


Do I earn rewards on prescriptions?
You earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on the amount you spend out of pocket in our stores, including the amount you spend for a prescription. A prescription with a $0 copay won't earn Walgreens Cash rewards because you didn't pay anything out of pocket for the prescription. (Varies by State)

Yes, you can use Register Rewards to help cover your amount toward Boosters but you have to make sure that the ones you use say, Manufacture CPN at the top. Those count like coupons. You just have to make sure you have an item for each one to attach to. The Register Rewards that say Store CPN at the top work like store coupons so that amount would count against your total and only one can be used per transaction.

As far as boosters, the digital ones are more flexible to use than the printed ones. Printed ones, you can not use any Wags Cash and still earn the Booster. With the digital offers, as long as your subtotal before manufacture's coupons but after any Wags Cash/StoreCredit/Store Qs used is equal to or greater than the amount of your threshold, you can earn the Booster. To specifically answer your question about your 7 transactions, you don't have to spend $20 cash oop each time. Manufacture's coupons and RRs will count towards that $20. I did a transaction this week that may be a little bit more advanced but hopefully it will give you a better idea of what I am saying:
My Booster Offer was $5 wys $20 so I bought:

3 Snickers Bars $2.64 - $1/2 ip
2 Colgate Renewal $13.98 - $3 dq - $3 dq
2 BIC Razors $9.73 - $5 dq
2 Colgate Adv. $7.98 - $4/2 dq
2 Crest PH $6 - $2 mq - $2 mq
Subtotal: $40.33
I redeemed $20 in Wags Cash so now my total was $20.33 (still enough to earn Booster)
$20.33 - $20 qs = .33 + tax (paid oop)
I got back $9 WC ($5 = Booster, $4 = Colgate) $13 RR ($6 = Colgate Renewal, $4 = BIC and $3 = Crest). I also earned an extra $2 WC because I get 10% back all month for my birthday and I got .75 rebate offer for the Snickers

Walgreen's is playing with fire with their b.s. policy that if your cats don't print they won't fix it, and insist you have to call catalina. I'm forwarding my chat transcript with wags to NJ Consumer Affairs with a formal complaint. Wags runs the ads, wags offers the promo, wags needs to fix their promo when it doesn't work in their stores. I got cheated out of $27 because the store's printer didn't work. They know this has been an issue for forever, it's not right they try and pass the buck.

I agree with Wags not owning their own issues, but if you do gets the replacement Cats directly from Catalina they have as long as 60 days to expiration. The last Cat that I got that printed at a Wags store expired 3 days later.

I filed an online complaint at NJ division of consumer affairs. I assume for every one person that actually follows up and complains, there's 20 that don't, and wags knows this. The failing to print in store only offers is a feature of their system, not a bug. What do you think my chances are that catalina will send my missing cats? Wags csr lady on chat was a real unpleasant jerk.

Generally when things don't work out you will do yourself a favor if you just eat it and move on. I get the outrage at least as well as anyone. I'm not new, but the fact is that you aren't going to get anywhere. Couponers, especially extreme ones (like me) are not looked on favorably inside any state bureaucracy. Plain and simple the time you spend seeking revenge will be time ill spent.

I've had good luck with Catalina. But I have a great Wags store and they usually just put the missing points on my card if I can show them that I had them coming. I do a lot of positive surveys for my clerks to reward them for their help.

Catalina must love you. I have never gotten any with an expiration date that long. 2 weeks was the max and it's usually much less. As far as the 3 day Cat, if it was for P&G, it was part of what was considered a bonus promo and it had a set expiration. Stupid but it's Wags so not surprised.

If that's your view, that's fine for you, but this is a habitually deceptive / fraudulent way of doing business and it doesn't stop until somebody takes some steps to stop it. I am an attorney, and while I don't think that makes me special, it makes my complaints seen as having some teeth where others might be ignored. Because if there's no actual follow up from the company or division of consumer affairs, I am capable of handling it myself. There's no gain in allowing a retailer to advertise promotions they know won't work in the stores and saying / doing nothing about it. Not to me, anyway. I will swing my hammer of justice and see where that gets me. CVS got taken to court in Florida and had to change their ways, and write some big checks. Anyway, their attitude of 'our store, our ads, our promos, but if it doesn't work as advertised, not our problem' ticked me off, so I'm on a vendetta now.

Walglreens has been doing shady things for decades. Employees are often scared to rectify things because of retribution. It's not normal. Since you have a legal background, keep enlightening us of your actions. There are many shoppers that have been taken advantage of over the years and are getting tired of it.

They used to mail you the replacement Cats, so they had a long expiration.

do the survey on the bottom of your receipt. i know when i did that, it got their attention...

The store wasn't the source of my problem, so I didn't want to ding them with a bad survey. Brain dead Walgreen's though was foolish enough to follow their terrible chat session with an email survey request, so I 1 starred them for that whole thing.

They still mail them, even though sometimes it is hell to prove that you did buy the right items. My initial answer was in reference to the mailed ones. Mine have been nowhere near 60 days. The longest expiration I have ever gotten from a mailed one was 2 weeks.

They still mail them, but for the past 3+ years, Catalina's customer service has been worse than Wags CS for me. They always deny my initial request, saying they "have no record of the offer" or some BS, even if I uploaded a picture of the Catalina advertisement. Then I have to respond to their denial (sometimes I have to respond twice) and even then, there's only a 50% chance they mail me the cat. The last 2 times, the cats they sent were EXPIRED by the time I got them. I don't bother anymore if the cat doesn't print. It's not worth wasting 30-60 min. of my time to get an expired cat mailed to me.
