By consensus, the weekly Walgreen's Ad is being replaced by this comprehensive thread. Until Walgreen's gives us better deals, we'll be able to follow more easily all the comments in one continuous thread.

Please post any tips, deals, coupon finds to help us all improve our Walgreen's shopping experience.

Thanks to Sugraray for the reminder:

If it is a BUY deal, ex: Buy 2 and earn RR, you can use WCR, RR, MQ, IVC whatever you want and still will earn your reward.
If it is a SPEND deal, ex: Spend $12 earn $5 RR, be careful! You cannot use WCR because that is taken off before it totals your spend. Same with IVC coupons (Walgreens coupons, found in the little paper book and also digital). If you have RR, be sure it is the regular manufacturer RR with a normal large barcode. That is treated like a MQ so you do need an item without another coupon to attach to. The store RR have a small barcode and says Store Coupon and lowers your "Spend" amount.

Important Information not to be Ignored: Updating 8/8/2023 Restarting the Info thread.

If you have an issue in store, first come here and post about it. Do not run off to call Corporate because it can have unitended consequences.

(No longer available in store-The monthly book is in your DQ account coupons)
IVC is the paper coupon book found at the front of the store, new each month. Also available as digital store coupons. These are Walgreens coupons that can be paired- used at the same time as regular MQs.

At Walgreens, you must have one item for each coupon to attach to. For example: you are buying detergent, there is IVC for $1/1 and you have MQ $1/1. That is two coupons, so you need to add an item without a Q as a filler. Often Ramen, candy bar, sometimes tuna or broth.

Abbreviations:

DQs (Digital Coupons found on your account)
OTU (One Time Use)
OFY (Only For You-DQs)
Booster (Points coupons found digitally on your account or printed in store at the register's catalina machine)
PO or BOPIS (Pickup Order or Buy Online Pickup In Store)

Do I earn rewards on prescriptions?
You earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on the amount you spend out of pocket in our stores, including the amount you spend for a prescription. A prescription with a $0 copay won't earn Walgreens Cash rewards because you didn't pay anything out of pocket for the prescription. (Varies by State)

What do I need to redeem my Walgreens Cash rewards?
Your email or home address is required to redeem Walgreens Cash rewards. The best way to access personalized deals and additional program benefits is by adding your email address to your profile. - Your zip code is your redemption code.

You can earn 5% Walgreens Cash rewards on all Walgreens branded products. This means anytime you buy a product carrying the Walgreens brand name—including beauty products like facial cleansers or nail polish remover and health essentials like vitamins—you'll earn unlimited 5% Walgreens Cash rewards.

How does Pickup at Walgreens work?
Our Pickup service makes it easy to shop your local store online at Walgreens.com or with the Walgreens App, then pick up your order in as little as 30 minutes.4 Choose your store and shop products on Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App. Then choose curbside, drive-thru or in-store pickup. It's easy! We'll send you a notification email (and text if you opt in) when your order is ready, then visit the store and tap the "I'm here" button in the email or text link to let us know. A team member will bring the order to you.

How do I create a digital Wallet for contactless checkout? (Updated some areas have no access to this)

Join myWalgreens® and make sure you're using the latest version of the Walgreens App. Once you sign in to myWalgreens on the app, select your digital Wallet in the menu to add your credit card. Then you can start enjoying fast, contactless checkout!

Q & A

KikiandD Q:
"I am not a Walgreen's Extreme Couponer, though I aspire to be. I think you actually have to have a total over the booster threshold to get the points. Like, this week my digital booster amount is $30, so I have to actually spend that. I *think* that you can use register rewards in the store as part of your payment and it will still work, but I haven't gotten to this level yet. Still trying to amass register rewards.
Still a little confused about how it works if you use some Walgreen's bucks but still spend over the amount. I don't think that would work but I could be wrong. But another question, If you use Walgreen's bucks but still spend over $20 out of pocket, will that transaction count on your score card (meaning, do seven transactions of $20 or more in December, and earn an extra $10 in points)?"

Valencia22 A:

Yes, you can use Register Rewards to help cover your amount toward Boosters but you have to make sure that the ones you use say, Manufacture CPN at the top. Those count like coupons. You just have to make sure you have an item for each one to attach to. The Register Rewards that say Store CPN at the top work like store coupons so that amount would count against your total and only one can be used per transaction.

As far as boosters, the digital ones are more flexible to use than the printed ones. Printed ones, you can not use any Wags Cash and still earn the Booster. With the digital offers, as long as your subtotal before manufacture's coupons but after any Wags Cash/StoreCredit/Store Qs used is equal to or greater than the amount of your threshold, you can earn the Booster. To specifically answer your question about your 7 transactions, you don't have to spend $20 cash oop each time. Manufacture's coupons and RRs will count towards that $20. I did a transaction this week that may be a little bit more advanced but hopefully it will give you a better idea of what I am saying:
My Booster Offer was $5 wys $20 so I bought:

3 Snickers Bars $2.64 - $1/2 ip
2 Colgate Renewal $13.98 - $3 dq - $3 dq
2 BIC Razors $9.73 - $5 dq
2 Colgate Adv. $7.98 - $4/2 dq
2 Crest PH $6 - $2 mq - $2 mq
Subtotal: $40.33
I redeemed $20 in Wags Cash so now my total was $20.33 (still enough to earn Booster)
$20.33 - $20 qs = .33 + tax (paid oop)
I got back $9 WC ($5 = Booster, $4 = Colgate) $13 RR ($6 = Colgate Renewal, $4 = BIC and $3 = Crest). I also earned an extra $2 WC because I get 10% back all month for my birthday and I got .75 rebate offer for the Snickers

Wags can be confusing and irritating sometimes. I have had my share of failures but it gets a bit easier over time."

I'm on a road trip and currently in MN. I didn't pack enough toothpaste (Toms of Maine), even though I have several years' supply in my stockpile back at home. So I checked Walmart and it was kind of expensive @ ca. $6 each, compared to the current online deal at Wags BOGO 50% with a $4/2 dq. So I get that (about $10 before the $4/2 = $6 for both) and we are running out of little chocolates and almonds, so I throw in 2 cans of BOGO Blue diamond almonds @ $6, a bag of Ghirardelli squares @$6.29 and then I'm so close to the Spend $30, get $7 Wags cash, that I figure I'll go for it with 3 Oral B toothbrushes @ $3.50 each w/$5/3 dq to hit the $30 threshhold. The $5 Wags cash from the P&G toothbrushes will give me a substantial discount on the other items and I'll donate them. I should earn $12 and some change in Wags cash ($7 wys $30 and $5 for buying P&G oral care). Used Wag10 for add'l discount but still enough to hit the $30 threshhold.

I get to the store for online pickup, ask for the receipt. No Wags cash earned. Since they've substituted some cheesier Oral B toothbrushes that somehow don't qualify for the $5 cash back and have managed via the substitution to depress my order total below the $30, I get no Wags cash back. I ask the mgr about it and she just gives me 10k points. No real argument, but the store is busy and this is MN so everyone seems to have this oddball upper Midwest niceness. I'm sure there's jerks here but I've yet to run into one. So after $18 and some change oop, I get $10 back in store credit, so end up paying about $8 for 2 Tom's of Maine toothpastes, a bag of Ghirardelli squares, 2 cans of Blue Diamond almonds and 3 oral b toothbrushes. So I'm back to shopping at Wags after a hiatus of several months.
Good for you! I saw on the WG Reddit page that stores are not supposed to give any kind of credit (Wcash was specifically mentioned). Which is odd since you got it and the manager on duty on Saturday was thinking about giving me a gift card..

Go figure!

It's odd but the stores used to be much more customer friendly. I remember running into mgrs who would let me have items for the online price if I could produce the page with the item, and also getting compensated for some failed deal by Wags cash credited used to be much more common. I should have simply cited "No substitutions" since I figured they'd just give me other toothbrushes that also qualified for Buy 3 get $5 Wags cash. But they didn't. What was helpful was that they used the $5/3 dq to completely cover the cost of the 3 I did get so there's no real reason to return them since they were free except for sales tax. I've been contemplating repeating the deal on another card since it would have garnered me $12 in Wags cash and our Biscoff cookie supply is getting low! Anyway, it was enough for me to have such a positive experience buying stuff we use to want to try to repeat it.

Here's a decent deal I found that worked (surprise surprise!).

I had a $7/$30 'select' grocery and Valentines items Wcash DQ and then also got a mid week $10/$30 Wcash DQ. I did buy in store, since I've had so many issues with my recent online orders, but decided to search specific items I knew we could use over time to see if they were part of the 'select' grocery items. Basically, I paid $31 after a 10% off cat and got $17 and change in Wcash, plus since I bought mostly items that were 'on sale', my total savings was over $18.

Of note, it didn't seem any of the soda products were part of the 'select' grocery items. The candy that is usually near the registers also were not part of the 'select' grocery items. But all the Valentines candy I checked and all the bags of Lindt and Ghiradelli were 'select' grocery items.

I definitely liked the $7/$30 offer. I had been hoping for soda to be included but, since it wasn't, I went with household goods, which were also included in the offer. I also had the $10/$30 and a $7/$35 cat. Even better was that my mom's card had the same offers, including the $7/$35 cat printing earlier in the week. On my card, I decided to just get some stuff I could use so I bought:
1 Downy $9.99 - $2 DQ
1 Gain $9.99 - $2 DQ
2 Scott Tissue $21.98 - $2/2 DQ

Total: $41.96 - $6 = $35.96, thankfully I had a bunch of RR to use
Got Back: $24.41 WC, $5 RR and $3 RR

That's great! I was hoping for a cat, but only got 10% off when I picked up a prescription.

I'm not sure what year in the future we will again need household products, which is why I went with some basic food items we will use. And I am hoping for clearanced Valentines candy next week (though we don't need it!), so I didn't want to get any of it.

Thank you. For some weird reason, no matter how well I stock up, I always end up with one thing I happen to want/need in that moment coming up short. I looked at my stockpile and saw plenty of everything but, when I went to grab a fabric softener, I realized I was using my last one. It's the same thing with me and groceries. Freezer full. I know I have plenty of chicken. I decide I am gonna cook some boneless, skinless thighs. I go to my freezer and I find every type of bone in, bone out chicken breasts, chicken wings, you name it but no thighs. I promise you, the universe just likes to mess with me😂

I haven't bought laundry soap in months, so I grabbed Tide. 4x $5.49 small ones and a $12.99 larger one. Used $1/1 small ones and $3/1 92 oz. I didn't have any paper boosters so I paid $30.95. Got back $17.35 WC and a $5 RR WYB 4 small Tide. So $8.61 after WC & RR for 200 ounces.

Thanks! One of my stores still had theirs at 50% today and I didn't walk down the deodorant aisle. I'll make that a stop for tomorrow.

All of the online clearance Valentines have disappeared online for pickup this morning, so they either went 90% off or were pulled.

I just got back from my Walgreens run. All Valentine's day is 80% off, including candy. Bags of Hershey Kisses were $1.30. Conversation hearts dated 8/2027 are $0.79. All of the big heart shaped boxes of chocolate were included.

Thanks! One store was wiped out, but I got enough to carry us through the next few months at another store. Yeah!

By comparison, Walmart was 25% off. LOL
