Best Buy and Amazon have the HyperX Cloud Stinger Stereo Headset for $34.99. Target has it for $39.99, but they will price match. The version with a 7.1 surround USB dongle (PC only) is also $39.99 at Amazon.

I picked this up as a throwaway headset to back up my ATH-M50 based on Rtings.com's Bass Accuracy testing segment. This was the cheapest set that could reach 10 hz at a threshold of -3 dB according to their charts.

The bass isn't very accurate but it is definitely there which I can't even say for most audiophile headphones (Sennheisers, I'm looking at you). For gaming and bass heavy tracks this is great as inaccurate mids and treble are still better than nonexistent bass.

The caveat is that the foam is very pushy on the headband and cups, along with the light weight it is very comfortable but clamping force is not there. Build quality is mostly plastic with a light metal adjustment band. Hinges are not creaky out of the box and the swivel on the cups is not loose (they turn 90 degrees but no folding in).

Keep in mind the mic is not detachable and there is NO noise cancellation. A volume control for the headphones is on the right cup, there is no volume/mix for the mic. You mute the mic by pushing it upright.

Overall great headset for gaming with actual bass for $35 and you can toss it in the trash if it ever breaks since it's cheap. The build quality is great out of the box IMO however.

I forgot to add that the bass is greatly improved with higher clamping force (manually). The headband itself is wide so unless you have a huge noggin it won't really clamp for maximum bass output. Possible mod there maybe. But if I didn't make it clear it actually has some low end and LFE.

Thanks! Ordered one for store pickup. My cousin has been looking for a cheap headset for his Switch. I picked him up the Turtle Beach Recon 70 just last week, but he hasn't opened them. Would anyone choose these over the Recon 70s?

These have 50 mm drivers. The cheaper version which is the Stinger Core has 40 mm like the Turtle Beach. I assume they are more on the same price point.

The bass on these also goes to 10 Hz according to Rtings testing, the same test on the Turtle Beach goes to 80 Hz which means the bass rolls off a lot more. 20-80 Hz gives you most of the thump from bass so you don't want it to be missing in games and most music.
