These have a gold-coated planar driver and supposedly sound best when driven by PA speaker amps at higher voltage. Needless to say if you don't understand any of the above this headphone probably isn't for you. The original version of the HE6 without the "SE" or "v2" retailed over $1k and are still much lauded. The headband on this later version is considered to be not great and the drivers may have changed a bit.
