Great specs. It's ironic how an almost 6" phone is considered small these days. I still remember the days when a Nexus 6 was considered to be huge.

Shamu is still a beast! But I also hold onto a Pixel 4 and S10e as my daily drivers (arguably "small" phones these days).

For those following along, Shamu was the codename for the Nexus 6; I had 2! Interesting to note that the Pixel 6 should be about as tall as the Nexus 6, though slightly narrower (keeping with current trends). Fortunately, it will also be shallower. The Nexus 6 wasn't just a BIG slab of OLED, it also had a curved back that made one-handed operation tricky at best.

Good luck!
Jon

The false large phones are very narrow. It's like looking at a TV's remote control. With the materials that was only able to make one phone in the old days, now they can make two phones and that's even "bigger" than the old phone.

With the AMOLED or OLED display, you want to go at 1440p resolution (2K) instead of 1080p like this phone.

I completely agree. I checked out the Motorola G series phones recently and the screen size is awkward, at least for me. I guess they make sense for videos, but websites are displayed in a tall and narrow fashion. Switching to landscape meant more scrolling to read the whole webpage.

Tempting deal. Glad it has a flat screen. Only drawback is Asus' slow software updates.

I actually prefer the 1080p resolution for battery life. I don't not any noticable difference in sharpness from my either of my phones (1080p & 2k)

This was the pre-order/launch price for this phone. Great phone, not a great price.

What does AMOLED/OLED have to do with resolution? Are you saying 1080P is good for LCD?

I assume they are alluding to pentile matrix subpixel arrangements in OLED screens. It's not quite as sharp in comparison to other non-oled screens.....but it's not blurry either. Might be noticable in a side-by-side deep look, but unnoticeable to my eyes when viewed on its own.

I've been using this phone for almost 2 months now. No complaints. Very reasonable priced and the screen is nearly as big as my note 9 was even though the phone is considerably smaller. I often have to check that it's on my person I'm used to carrying such a big phone.

Why is this a deal? You can get an S21 for $100 more unlocked. I've had off brand phones before and they tend to either die or develop significant issues after 18-24 months and software updates stop well before that. Samsung hardware is definitely better, camera software is leaps and bounds better than others and they are also much much better issuing updates on a regular basis.
