This particular robo vac doesn't map your house, but does have IR sensors to avoid hitting everything. No mapping means you can't setup rooms, etc.
But this does have a back and forth option, which is way better than the old smack the wall and go into a random direction. This is more systematic in the way it can clean a room.
For some folks this may be all they need. Can't beat $100 for a decent robo vac with mopping capability.
EDIT: I have a Deeboot N79 (way stupid vac) and a Ozmo T8+, both of which are good vacs. I def recommend Ecovacs as a brand.
"The infrared sensor around the front of the U2's bumper powers the bot's anti-collision tech. We found it works well when it comes to wall avoidance – stopping just short of large barriers – but it's not quite as proficient at avoiding smaller obstacles like furniture legs.
During our testing, the U2 bumped into chairs and table legs in our test space during every cleaning run, extracting itself from within this obstacle course the same way a bumper car would – awkwardly bumping back and forth until it was free."
Buddy, my keyboard claims it enhances gaming with rugged military keycaps, low frequency cables, and airplane-grade aluminium. It's just nonsense manufacturers say to convince idiots to buy their product.
You cannot detect furniture with infrared. That's simply not how infrared works. The charge base emits an infrared light, and the vacuum will look for that light. Many cheap vacuums do this. They need the infrared for the remotes and charge base.
Fine enough, until it breaks.
I had two failures within 2 years. They replaced the first, 2nd failed the same way less then a year later, they offered me 10% off as a 'sorry'
For $100, eh. But they're not the only $100 option and I've had bad experiences with their idea of a reliable product.
It is stupid in a cute way.
The tracks it leaves on the carpet is a signature of its stupidity
Yes or when it's incessantly beeping in a corner because it got stuck halfway under the couch/table. I just ordered this bad boi, they can be special friends.

Does it come with the mopping module in box or that needs to be purchased separately ?
I see the mopping module sold for 100$ separately on Walmart

Seems awkward to type out a two paragraph response but not google "can you measure with infrared" to learn you are wrong.

It's not a module really for this model, just a plastic plate you stick swiffer type pads onto. You mopping module you're talking about is motorized addon that does more than just wiping the flooring passively.
With that said, my mop (non motorized, like this one) on my T8+ works great.
I have the Deebot N79s and love it, but my needs are minimal. I just let it run a few times and I am satisfied with what it accomplishes.
That said, is it worth getting this U2 model if I have a functioning N79s? Is the mop function worth $100?
This, word for word, what I wanted to also know.
N79 has been excellent and I equate it to getting a dishwasher or microwave for the first time. Why did I wait so long? The price.. The N79 was Amazon Refurb for $100 and a week after I bought it, I bought another, just in case.. First is still running like new refurb, more than a year later. Sold the second one.
EDIT: ordered one just for those rare times when kitchen floor has some slightly sticky spot.

I don't have this but I have Deeboot N79 and I think it works pretty good (for the price). It does get stuck a lot though but boy does it pick up a lot of stuff on my floors. I like it and have been using it for 2 years. I'd buy this brand again if I needed a new one.

Anti-Collision: Uses infrared sensors and soft cushion bumpers to avoid obstacles and protect your furniture
EDIT: Here is a review about the IR sensors:
