Not a very good TV.

For a little bit more, you could get the Hisense U6G when it's on sale. Usually goes on sale for about $480 for the 50 inch

Doesn't Newegg require 5+ dead pixels to qualify for a return?

That Rtings review is not a fair assessment of this 2nd tier budget model; Rtings' review is for the 65" IPS panel (low contrast/wider viewing angles) version. The 50" version in this thread has a VA panel (higher contrast/narrower viewing angles). In Rtings reviews, contrast is the most weighted factor for movie watching, so the movie ratings, which dragged-down their overall rating, will be better on this 50" version than what the Rtings review indicates. However, you are absolutely right; the Hisense U6G @ $480 is a much better choice than the model in this thread.

I'll back up that other guy

I have an H9F and it is a TERRIBLE TV aside from the fantastic picture. I wish they'd never bothered to make it smart. The Android interface is incredibly slow and buggy. For a solid year I was dealing with issues like "It won't turn on when I push the button" or "I need to reboot it for the 3rd time this week to get it working again" or "I pushed that button and it took 12 seconds to respond" or "it's displaying the wrong input" or "ARC audio stopped working again"

They patched it and it got better, but not perfect. It's still slow and underbuilt. I wish it had been a dumb TV and not a smart one. It really sucks to sit down and just want your TV to turn on and work, and you have to screw with it.

The first 2 numbers (50) of the item/model number in the description indicates screen size.

100% with this guy. The TV as a whole is pretty slow (ie: even adjusting volume has a delay). I bought it for my mom and I kind of regret it. The picture is great though. I had to buy a Roku Streaming Stick because the delays in accessing apps was driving us crazy.

The general stance on Hisense seems to be "great picture", but screw everything else.

I was actually unlucky with a U6G purchase that had terrible bleeding due to poor QC, but I could already tell that there were going to be issues outside of that given the UI.

It's unfortunate, but you tend to get what you pay for.

But the Hisense is so cheap and fire sticks can be had for 25 bucks. Smart TVs tend to suck and it's better to just use external devices anyways.
