This is a projector.

Really weird to call it a TV... with a projector screen (brand labeling, not OP's).

Short throw laser projector just doesn't have the same ring to it? Doesn't set off deal alerts/SEO?

Wow, this is a heck of a deal, especially since this was just released. It's like getting the screen for free. VERY tempting.

There have been front and rear "projection Tv's". Early front projection "Tv's" had a curved screen in front of a box containing the short throw projector.

Don't know why this is downvoted. It's a decent offering (if not red-hot).

This is a triple laser UST comparable to the Samsung LSP9T with an ALR screen thrown in ($500 value). The Samsung one sells for $5,500 without the screen.

With the 100 day trial, you are covered into Black Friday, if you find a better deal.

You can also compare it to the Vava Chroma launching next week for a launch price of $2800

I've never seen a laser projector like this in person. How does it look in comparison with, let's say, 85" TVs in the same price range?

Get the 85" tv. Much better contrast and you can watch it with room lights on. With flat panel tv's getting larger and cheaper, the "need" for a projector is getting less and less. I've owned projectors for years. I'll never buy another one.

I would think at 100" 4K resolution and lesser media would become an issue. Wouldn't existing content clarity suffer on an image this size? Unless it has a superior upscaling feature. Time to review reviews.

This is an UST projector with an ALR screen. This is literally designed to watch with the lights on.

This has almost nothing in common with the projectors you are talking about.

There is a reason they market these as Laser TVs. People just relate these to old school projectors otherwise.

True. 1 million contrast ratio, 3000 LUMENS on screen brightness and HDR10 compatibility combined make this pretty awesome even in brighter living rooms.

Sure but that's only 85 inches. 100+ inch flat panels cost an arm and a leg. Projectors are absolutely needed if you want extremely large screens.
