Actually my experience with this was quite the opposite. I bought only premix in the beginning and I found that it was actually way less convenient than the powder. My kiddo would never drink the premixed stuff at room temp, and it took a while to slowly increase temp using a bottle warmer. But if you buy powder, you can just mix it directly with warm water from the tap and it's Way faster than having to use a bottle warmer. I was only using this formula to supplement until my milk supply built up enough, but I way preferred the powder. Many months later once I stopped breastfeeding and switched exclusively to formula, then eventually my kiddo would drink milk at room temp, but premix is so much more expensive, I just don't really understand the appeal.

This - completely agree. The premix takes forever to heat up vs warm tap water. (And yes, multiple docs said my specific tap water was perfectly fine to use)

Every time I see these deals I want to get it so bad because this is what my daughter takes and it's just cheaper but then I read multiple reviews about it making their kids sick/smells and I just can't get it because of that! Really wish I could but just too afraid after reading a lot of comments like that!

I'm just one person, but I used mostly Amazon for our now 2 1/2 year old and currently for our 8 month old. I've never seen anything like those reviews describe. The worst thing that happened was they sent us two expired cases, I chatted, they sent me two new ones two days later.

The Amazon formula has been completely indistinguishable from the scattered cans I've picked up at Target, Walmart, or even the Similac sample cans.

As someone mentioned, user cleanliness could play a role. I've seen others theorize improper storage in warehouses or shipping—an issue that is possible with every retailer.

But my replacement experience was relatively easy (I did have to speak to someone—you can't facilitate it online like most other products). I wouldn't hesitate to urge someone to take a chance because Amazon didn't hesitate to offer me a refund or replacement once I explained the issue.

Lol, of course tap water is completely fine. I suppose it depends on where you live, but in my area it is great quality water. Check out this article from mayo clinic. Even if you are worried about fluoride content in the water, if you use water with no fluoride, there is a good chance your doctor will actually recommend you add it back in.

Any idea why Similac stopped giving me coupons? I used to get those $15 coupons. Now, I get none. Does this have to do with my kid over 12 months?
Yes, most pediatricians recommend moving away from formula at 12 months. So both Similac and Enfamil now have these toddler milk formulas and once your kiddo hits 12 months, they will only give you the coupons for their toddler milk varieties. The toddler milk stuff is really unnecessary, but it's also pretty cheap. I ended up buying 1 container of it and I just kept it on hand in case we ran out of regular milk or something. Turns out we had a power outage during a major weather event and our milk spoiled, and it was 3 days before we could get out to a grocery store again. This toddler milk was very handy during that time. But I recently discovered that you can buy shelf stable regular milk boxes too, so I stock those instead now.

If you really need more formula and you want more checks from Similac, you can add a child to your profile. Then they will start sending you new checks.

Is anyone concerned about the poor reviews? It seems like there is a warehouse storage issue and quite a bit of reviews mentioned that their babies got sick.

Tap water is definitely fine. I am just questioning to use hot tap water.

Ah well I have a super nice thermapen thermometer and I found it way easier to just adjust the water temp so that it was warm, use a thermometer to ensure it's not too hot, and just fill the bottle directly with that water. That's what you do if you ever need to mix up a bottle on an airplane by the way. You ask the flight attendant to bring you hot water and you just mix hot water with cold, or bottled water until it's the right temp in your bottle, then add powder and shake it up. They cant bring you warm water, it's only hot or cold.
