I waited several days for someone to post this, but no one did! I figured some folks out there would want to know, so here you go:

Google Play (and likely Amazon, iTunes, Microsoft, and Vudu--sorry, I didn't have time to check all titles) has select 4K Pixar films on sale for $10. This is a great way to spend your Google Rewards survey credits and all these titles are Movies Anywhere (MA) compatible. This sale will likely end on Tuesday night (9/14).

QA note: Deal is expired, all prices have increased, except Coco, which is still $9.99. Please see FP for additional purchase options.

Cars 2 [google.com]
Cars 3 [google.com]
Coco [google.com]
Monsters, Inc. [google.com]
Monster University [google.com]
Ratatouille [google.com]
Soul [google.com]
Up [google.com]
Wall-E [google.com]

$11:
Luca [google.com]
Onward [google.com]
These are $1 more than at Amazon, iTunes, Microsoft Movies, and Vudu, but might be worth the extra if you have some Google survey credit you need to burn. Note: Google doesn't specify whether Onward is 4K but it should be.

Here's a bundle of Onward and Coco in 4K for $17:
Onward/Coco 4K bundle [google.com]

The Tron movies are also on sale for $5 (HD only). There are two other posts that included these titles, but neither mentioned that Google Play has them. Again these are MA and a good way to use survey credits:
Tron [google.com]
Tron: Legacy [google.com]
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

This depends on how you watch your content, both in terms of your apps and hardware. When you stream Movies Anywhere (MA) titles, you have the choice of doing so via iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, Amazon Video, the MA app, and more. These all have different levels of quality-- some are better than Disney+ and some are worse.

This thread at blu-ray.com has a good mix of subjective and objective (audio and video bitrates) analysis of the various streaming services: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthr...p?t=323204

Even with something as seemingly black-and-white as bitrate, you can't make assumptions about perceived quality. The compression algorithm and decoding hardware can play a huge role in the final outcome. That said, iTunes appears to be at the top of the heap, both in terms of bitrate and people's opinions.

Disney+ has been a mixed bag for me. There are times when the 1080p stream from our Xbox looks better than the 4K version from the Samsung TV app, and both have had audio/video sync issues. We tend to use Vudu because it houses the bulk of our digital library and generally looks and sounds great to my family, but there are a few titles where the quality is noticeably subpar.

Thanks for the response. I have Disney+, and utilize it through Apple TV 4K. The quality is great IMO. But there are some examples to this. Quite a few UHD discs support Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 or even 5.1.4
If your audio setup is great, then it seems like Discs are the way to go. However, if your internet is fast enough, I believe Disney+ will give you all the bells and whistles with Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.
Mileage may very.

Ideally, in the future, I would like to buy digital movies that have codes activated through iTunes. Simply because whenever a 4K version of a movie becomes available, Apple upgrades you automatically.

I just noticed that this post got marked as expired, but this is only for Google Play. The sale prices should hold on the other services until Tuesday night.

If only Vudu would let me add the gift cards I purchased to my account, this would be an even sweeter deal. Anyone else having this issue?

What type of gift cards? I was able to add a $5 reward credit from my Fandango VIP account without any issues.

Ones purchased via this deal. When I go into the account under Payment Methods, the page is just blank. Doesn't give me the option to update/change/add a payment method. I've tried all browsers/computers/mobile devices I have in my possession with no success.

It appears they are codes, in which case you'd have to go to the "Redeem" submenu, then select "Vudu code."

They're Gift Cards, which have a code and pin. I've tried doing the "Redeem" option and entering as a Vudu code, but it doesn't work. When I go to the gift card section, it lets me check the balance and shows that the codes are for $25. It says to go to your account under payment methods to redeem them, which is where my problem is.

I appreciate the help!

Yup, streaming is convenient but physical media is still superior for quality, especially for audio, as you noted. None of the streaming services have lossless audio and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA soundtracks on even regular blu-ray discs absolutely destroy all the audio streams from any service.

Meh, good to watch on Disney plus if you have it. Don't think I would pay more than 5 bucks to watch.

Pixar set the bar too high and this movie is just average. Its just ok.

Ah, ok-- I've never done an actual gift card but I remember dealing with a similar issue trying to update the credit card on my wife's Vudu. That was a while ago but it looks like people were still dealing with this recently and Vudu is aware of it:

Once you buy the disc, you can rip it to a file for the HTPC with 4k HDMI out.
remux

Also, we don't actually **own** the content that is purchased for streaming. It cannot be transferred between accounts. When we die and lose access to the account, the purchases go with us.

We don't 'own' the videos or Kindle books...we've only purchased a non-transferable license which allows for access to the content.
