At $40 for this... it still seems like it's too expensive. Am I missing something as to why I wouldn't be able to find a solution for cheaper than even this?

I made something like this myself using reclaimed OSB wood strips I saved from a wood shipping box and a set of hooks I got off Amazon:

Garage Hooks Heavy Duty 10 Pack Storage Bike Hooks for Garage Organization Power Tools,Ladders,Bulk Items-Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085SV6...78CD?psc=1

The wood was free with some elbow grease, but the hooks alone were $17.50 in March 2021, and are now listed at $26 for the 12 pack. I had to "design" the hook layout for what was going to be held on it, bolt it to my poor quality wood base, and I'm limited on how I can change it up over time. Since OSB I think is still $35/sheet and you'd have to cut it to size, this seems reasonable at $40 and you can slide hooks around to fit different things. Might be able to find a promo for a similar model hook rack if you keep an eye out, but if I was needing this now I'd be reading all the reviews and placing an order.

This seems to be a competitor to the rail systems at big box stores. However it seems overkill. I have used plastic ones from Amazon for years with no issue. The one thing that could be nice is the variable spacing. Some items are wider than others and need the room to hang.

I have purchased some off brand metal brackets (not these, different style). I was surprised to find few fail at the weld. They seem to be built to look tough because they are metal but I don't always find that to be the case. It's made me wary of cheap metal stuff.

Below is the one I purchased earlier. Held up to abuse just fine. Lots of other brands. $25. ~$20 warehouse deals. I think Walmart, Lowe's, etc have their own variant too.

You're paying $40 for hooks and the metal bar... Skip the metal bar and just buy the hooks for $20.

I was looking at this but got the Hart one from Walmart for $10 more. 9' instead of 6', 12 hooks instead of 9.
Also, if ever i need to expand the compatible hooks or the rails, at least I know the Hart will be at the least, purchasable form Walmart rather than some off brand for the next few years.

Do you have a link to the Walmart one?
