Edit: Several people have said that the C535 and C545 use different size filters. I read the opposite before posting my original comment below. Check to make they will work for you. There are generic available for both.

Original post: This is a deal for genuine Winix filters but does anyone know how well the generic compare? Generic filters are much cheaper on Amazon, if they are comparable quality. Example below. Note that C535 and C545 filters are the same.

The experience I've had with generic filters is some have been noisy. They just make the unit louder or make funny rattles in my experience. Not all of them have, but some I've tried for sure.

Generics seems to inhibit airflow somewhat but I didn't bust out my anemometer to verify.

For which ones? the c555 or the C535?

How often do they go on sale i wonder.

I was debating whether to get the 5500-2 (not costco, no antimicrobial) or the c555. I wot both but was leaning towards 5500-2 because the filters were a lot cheaper. However, if the filter for c555 go on sale for 40 often, then I would go with the c555.

Just something to keep in mind - discount is limited to 2 per household. I have multiple units, so tried to add more than 2 and discount did not reflect beyond 2.
