My kids are two and six and they both love kinetic sand.
My mom always said, "Whoever invented this stuff hates children." Implying their parents would beat them for making a mess. And she was probably right.
I bought the 12lb version of this deal for like $15 last week. Since then my 3.2 year old and I have had a blast playing with it. Dont listen to the folks talking about big messes unless you dump it out or something. It doesn't stick to your hands, save for a teeny tiny bit that you can easily knock off by wringing your hands over it when you're done. We put it in a smallish Rubbermaid tote and it's great.

Just dump it onto any baking sheet / brownie tin that has a 1" lip and it stays contained in that space...

We have a table specifically for this with a deep basin, kids love it and play with it daily.
We've mixed this sand with kinetic sand, they are slightly different in texture but it doesn't matter once it's mixed together.
This is a great deal...stuff goes on sale a lot but when it's not, it's pricey.
