Same price straight from WD ($339.99):

and if you want the heatsink version for a PS5 or whatever, that's $20 more ($359.99):

Performance and reliability wise no, but they had issues on x570 boards AMD boards where you got half the performance. Allegedly fixed now but x570 is a dumpster fire for SSD's in general.

from the toms link it looks to be just connected the M2 slot controlled by the chipset, so luckily it doesnt affect the M2 slot connected to CPU, i figure most people that has the drive has it in the main slot so no biggie. I cant see many people buying this as 2nd storage drive.

WD is just as shady. I saw an article about how they sneakily changed some parts in ssds to inferior ones (same as samsung).
LTT and GamersNexus both ran stories on this. i want to say just about every drive manufacturer has done this now. i think WD released a statement stating they'd use new SKUs in the future for significant revisions.

I recently read that same article and have been holding off on pulling the trigger on one.

I am tempted to hold out in the hopes that a good 2TB M.2 PCI 4 SSD drops below the $300 mark come the holidays.

While 2TB extra would be nice, I'd consider a 1TB as a compromise depending on the price. It still sucks that the PS5 SSD is proprietary with its size allocation.

prices are finally going back to reality.

I want to use my best buy 15% off coupon and my gift cards in best buy.

I want it but not need it
I guess I'm waiting until blackfriday.

the manufacturers and sellers screwed themselves as I no longer desire to upgrade as I used alternatives. It's too bad.

Too bad newegg has nothing for me to buy nowadays I still have 350 in gift cards.
same here, i'm holding out for $299 on black friday then use my bb gift cards.. then done with ssds for awhile

Sorry to say, but the bottom line is that all of these NVME drives are over priced. These are basically no more expensive to produce than SATA M.2 drives (with/without DRAM, and the controller is basically a wash). Don't forget WD's sleazy Blue bait and switch in the last month or two....

All the firms tacitily collude and say "if they over charge and gouge, we can too". Sadly, it's in all industries, and without more competition there's not much anyone can do, but it still sucks to know that you're getting bent over.

Same as it ever was......

Overpriced bullshit. It's 2021. You should be able to expand the PS5 memory much more than they are allowing. I call bullshit on needing gen 4 for these drives when gen 3 would suffice.
