I have one as well as some other push blocks. Not only does it help with thin strips, but the big thing it did was give me confidence to get closer to the blade. I was always so afraid of getting too close, that I wasn't doing a great job of supporting the piece through the cut. This plus more experience makes me very comfortable using my table saw now as an amateur.

Things like a tool that does this, for less money. That's not plastic and can be modified to suit your needs for the task at hand.

Lol, this is the pet rock of Woodworking.

I often imagine that the people using this on their table saw, are also wearing gloves as they use it. Lol
No gloves near a table saw, even if you still have all of your digits because you use a push block when needed.

I bought one of these the day after I picked up my table saw. I find I use it less now than I did originally since I have more confidence in using the saw, but they are still indispensible for certain cuts like thin strips. Being able to run the push block over the blade is very useful. And I almost always use it with my jointer which IMO is even more dangerous than a table saw.

Sure you can manufacture similar tools, but if you're just starting out, this is a good investment in safety.

Ok, there are dozens of ways to make a jig for safely using a table saw. This particular one is just one that is overhyped 💩 that people can buy.

Buying a tool to help you make things. Things like a tool that does this, for less money. That's not plastic and can be modified to suit your needs for the task at hand.

This is a gimmick that's made a fortune off of the quarantined "woodworkers".
Dumb response is dumb.

Just got a table saw so I'm new. But what I don't like is that I can't use this with the other table saw safety features, like the blade cover and anti kickback pawls. Just has to be the blade and riving knife. So my plan was to use 2 push sticks with those additional safety features rather than uninstall them and use the gripper.

Very on brand.

I have a Gripper and love it. $60 is a hell of a lot cheaper than whatever it costs for reconstructive surgery. If you'd rather make one...fine but don't come in here and be a condescending asshole about it. Seems as if some people only have one mode.

There're many ways to skin a cat, but in addition to being a push block, the Grrrriper is a blade guard and by safely controlling both pieces past the blade, effectively eliminates kickbacks. So I wouldn't worry too much about removing those features from your saw, especially for cuts that they can't be used anyways...

I picked up a used Grrripper long ago and absolutely love the control, and safety, that it provides. While another actual Grrripper would be nice, I made a workable approximation by coating the bottom of a 2x4 with a thin coat of caulk and screwing a handle on top. Yep, the 2x4 gets cut away over time, but is easy enough to replace - might even skip the caulk next time as I'm not sure it's necessary.

What's the difference between the gravity heel and the leg accessories?

For everybody that is hesitant to buy one because of the comments, keep in mind that we're in a community of the cheapest of cheapskates. In their mind there's no such thing as value beyond materials – since this block only has $1 worth of plastic in it then it's not worth more than $1.

I personally love my Gripper in addition to my other push sticks. Off the top of my head I have at least 4 different types of push sticks in my shop, all useful for different purposes. I've seen nearly every woodworker on YouTube use a Gripper at one point or another, and yes, that includes whatever big name you're thinking of.

Bottom line: if you think it's worth it, buy it. If you don't, then don't post here.

Agreed. I have a gripper as well as several other jigs and sacrificial type push sticks and guides. There is no one tool to rule them all and the gripper is included.

Is it a necessary tool? No, you can easily get by with a standard push stick or other contraption you come up with that works for you that you made out of scrap. But is it a valuable tool? Only the one who uses it can determine that. I find it very valuable and highly recommend it. But calling it the equivalent of a pet rock? Absolutely stupid and ignorant. But I believe i've seen him/her post like that in other threads so i'll just chalk this up to a lifeless troll.

After I bought my table saw, this was my first purchase.

Two complaints

1. I couldn't use it for the thinner cuts, which is addressed by the leg accessory.

2. I have had to make a couple cuts on a board that was stained and had poly on both sides. For this cut, the rubber feet were pretty slick on the board and it would have been dangerous to use. Luckily it was just pine and wider cuts, so no issue using my hands and a stick

Overall, I recommend this, especially to any new woodworkers.

There are many cuts that are common on a table saw where the anti kickback pawls and cover can't be used or when using a sliding jig of some sort. That is where something like the Gripper has a real advantage. NEVER take off the cover and kickback pawls unless you have to for the cut or don't mind assuming the risk. Don't go backwards with safety and take them off just to use this push block.
Sure, if you are ripping 4 inches off a 2x12, ripping plywood or ripping a large enough cut the end result safely fits between the guard and the miter fence and room for you to push past them you should always leave the safety cover and pawls on and I would use a plain old push stick too. It's the best tool for that job.
If I am doing something where I have to take off the cover and pawls to fit, there is a good chance the Gripper is the better push block too.

Keep in mind, this GRIPPER also has function used with a router table, jointer, and even holding when cutting with a miter saw in cases.

Are you saying this has no function? Because a pet rock had no function. If you believe this has no function then you...well, I won't call you an idiot, but you're no woodworker.
