The HP x2 has 8 GB RAM and an SD card slot. It's not onboard storage but it's something

There is no standard process to do that. You have to do your own research.

It's a Chromebook and it has a SD Card slot. You can simply expand it by adding a high capacity, 128GB or 256GB card which are pretty cheap now a days.

Can you add apps to it?

They're using similar naming convention for the Intel Pentium and Celeron chips which are based on their main Architecture (not the low powered 6W and 10W downgraded architecture like Baytrail, Gemini Lake and Jasper Lake) for a long time now.
Performance wise, this is actually more powerful than Intel 10th Gen i3 Processors like i3-1010U, both CPU and integrated GPU performance.
This is comedy Glod!

Aren't the Chromebook apps browser plugin? That's the whole point of Chrome OS, isn't it?

No.

Apps run from the "desktop".

I am not talking about Android apps here. if that is your requirement then look for something with bigger storage. It is possible to use the SD card to store application data in Chrome OS but not sure if it possible to install the apps in it. You can use applications like Netflix, Amazon Prime to use the SD card to download the media contents.

No, they really don't. And what do you mean by "desktop"?

For data that works, but apps only install to the built-in storage. Apps and their cache & files tend to chew up internal storage quickly. There are hacks to store it on SD, but hacks are... hacks. Increasing internal storage from 32GB to 64GB doesn't cost much for the manufacturer, so it's a shame they're selling a 32GB model.
