The Alvarez Regent Series is a high-quality, entry-level guitar line designed to provide superior instruments with many features and specifications you'll find in pro-level Alvarez models. Components such as the bi-level engineered rosewood bridge, scalloped bracing and PPS synthetic bone nut and saddle, work together to get the best tone and response possible.

Regent Series has also been designed with the student in mind and has a slightly slimmer neck profile and nut, making it very easy to hold and fret.

This guitar has a roadworthy, vintage vibe with a satin finish. This is a great looking guitar and for its size has a very open and warm voice. It is fitted with the Alvarez SYS250 from B-Band, a 3-band EQ with onboard digital backlit tuner.

It doesn't say solid mahogany top so I'm assuming it a laminate?

Undoubtedly. Actually a good thing for a guitar in this price range.

Laminate tops are less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity. So if you want to take it on the back porch or to the beach, no biggie.

I'm assuming you don't play guitar much. Laminates can peel like wet cardboard in humid conditions and become brittle in dry environments. The finish cracks something fierce when they get too dry.

Tell me you have no idea what you're talking about without telling me you have no idea what you're talking about.

10+ years in music retail for both big box and boutique music stores.

20+ years as a professional musician. Tons of fly dates where shifts in temperature and humidity are concerns.

No wood guitar top will withstand direct contact with moisture for extended periods of time. But, laminate tops–which have multiple layers with different grain structures–are far more resilient than solid tops in less than ideal conditions.

And the finish checking has nothing to do with solid vs laminate top. More to do with the quality of the application and whether or not it's a nitrocellulose or polyurethane lacquer and whether they have plasticizers to stabilize them through weather changes.

"The laminate construction process can also yield greater structural resilience, since the layers are typically arranged using alternating grain directions. This durability can help the guitar remain structurally stable in the face of fluctuating humidity conditions — which is nice if you plan to travel with the guitar…"

This is documented on multiple guitar manufacturer's websites and is common knowledge if you actually know what you're talking about. Taylor, Breedlove, Andertons, Reverb, Guitarpages. The list goes on.

Stick to cabinetry. Maybe the Gear Page if you'd like to continue being confidently incorrect.
