I bought 30 bags at $14.50 last week. The clearance prices vary store to store. Not as good as $10 a bag a few years ago, but still pretty good.

People, put down a preemergent (prodiamine) NOW.
Do that again just before spring.
In LATE spring, after your grass is FULLY green and weeds are actively growing, put this down in the early morning, on a lawn that is wet with dew. DO NOT APPLY TO A DRY LAWN. DO NOT WATER IN. DO NOT WATER THE LAWN FOR 2 DAYS. DO NOT PUT DOWN IF RAIN IS EXPECTED IN 2 DAYS.
This will only kill weeds that it can "stick to" so don't mow the lawn before use unless your weeds are low to the ground and under the grass's "canopy". You want as much weed surface area for this to stick to.
This will not continue killing weeds in the future. It's a "contact" killer only. Do not mow or disturb the lawn for at least 2 days. You may also benefit from a 3rd preemergent treatment in mid summer. I had a a ton of chamberbitter/gripeweed pop up out of nowhere in august this year Frown

Anecdotal story for everyone. I put this down this year, early morning on dew covered grass. Let it sit undisturbed for a wk.

This yr my weeds were worse than they ever have been. I talked to a scotts rep and explained that the weeds are thriving and this was their response.

"That means its working! The weeds will literally grow themselves to death!"

This is the most absurd thing ive ever heard.

This will not stop "future" weeds. It only kills the weeds it comes into contact with. It does a great job at that. There are millions of weed seeds in your lawn waiting to germinate. They can lay there for years before they wake up. Only way to stop them is to put down a preemergent a couple times a year. This is a post emergent. This isn't a magic /silver bullet. It's part of a lawn maintenance system.

Just read the active ingredients on the label. I used Lesco last time.

I work in lawn care and can't wait to use that response with my customers. Pure Gold!
