Just received the 16 gb model. Very plastic-y. Alot of flex through whole laptop. It is quick. Screen is tolerable. Great option for basic home use imo

For 499 at Walmart they have a gateway 11thgen i5 with 16gb 3200 ram(soldered) and 512 ssd 15.6 ultra slim Iris xe with fingerprint reader

Screen is tolerable like this one, same plastic with a little flex but solid 500 dollar buy

Are these decent for light gaming? I don't want to play anything brand new, but I would like to play some older MMORPG games.

This 8GB model only runs in single channel mode and would be terrible for gaming, go for the 16 gb model for $349 for dual channel.

I don't think those upgrades are worth the extra $150. These Gateway laptops are budget machines and their build quality isn't the best. For $300 to $350, they are a good deal for someone on a budget. Once you get into the $500 range, there are better options available.

Depends on how old youre talking about. These are zen+ quadcores with slow single core performance (important for older games) and weak IGPs. This will probably around 30fps low-medium in like diablo 3. So I do think its playable, but I dont think youd enjoy the experience. Id suggest stretching for a i5-1135G7 higher singlecore performance, and a bit better IGP. They typically are in $500 laptops, but you get much better build quality, more storage, better screen quality, more RAM, for that price. For example: https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ide...60676.html

Even those games are way more graphically intense. I'm talking about old games, like Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Wizard101. Games that have been around for like 10 years. Something that could probably run on a PS3 or an Xbox 360 if console versions had ever been made available.

Search for those games and the processor to find other videos maybe?

I purchased this last week, but then returned it. For the price ($319) it has some respectable specs, but as others have said it is very plasticky with cheap build quality. I was surprised by how loud and often-used the internal fan was. Normally low power laptops with an SSD are fairly quiet, but this one's fan noise rivals some old desktop computers I've had. But the thing that made it unusable for my purposes was the quality of sound from the built in speakers. Don't let "Tuned by THX" fool you, the sound quality is terrible. I have other low-price recent laptops like an HP 14 and a Lenovo IdeaPad 3, and their sound is far, far superior to this Gateway, and louder. Even after adjusting the audio enhancements in the pre-installed Realtek app, it sounded very tinny and very quiet, so much so that it was hard to hear audio clearly over the fan. Since I got this for my kids to use for online classes that require Zoom, where they don't always use a headset, the volume just wasn't satisfactory. If you plan to use a headset or external speakers, this may work great for you.

C'mon, you can't expect a full magnesium chassis and all the bells and whistles for the price. This is pretty smokin' for the price and specs.

Tuned by THX doesn't mean high quality. It means that they did the best they could with what Walmart gave them. Like giving me a Geo Metro to tune (without adding anything) and then complaining about not being able to race a lambo... I did what I could.

These should be fine for school and zoom. Not everyone can afford better laptops, especially if they have more than one kid needing them. Those other laptops are more expensive too.

Serious question, how well does it run CSGO?
