Is there an issue with dogs eating these ingredients? I get that they're used as fillers in dog foods, but these are treats which seems okay. Both ingredients are filled with protein and good vitamins and minerals, so what makes these bad treat ingredients?

Causes enlarged heart( dilated cardiomyopathy) in certain breeds and was involved as controversial ingredients in the big FDA grain free dog food bruhaha that affected many brands who then pulled and reformulated their line to exclude them. There was a big study on the effects because dogs were getting very sick with irreversible heart damage or dying.

Huge debate on this . My dogs been grain free and healthy since birth. Love signature grain free. If you want to make sure your dog and yourself are getting the best of the best ingredients, make your own food and only use organic non dairy grain free foods.

To my knowledge it is breed specific for the most part

We had 2/3 of our Goldens on grain free and their Taurine was under 200. We changed their diets and it's up to where it should be for them (240-280.)

We have to do bi-yearly blood tests, and a yearly Ultrasound on their chest.

We started this process 2-3 years back, and go for our final this December. So far we are in the "good" and show no issues at all.
