Gen10 has overheating issue. It would only record less than 30mins continuously. That is no go for me. Check the YouTube video before you bite.

Will pass this yr. I didn't get it on my amex card this yr. Got $70 off last yr & this yr price of gp10 is $50 more too. Horizon lock at more video modes & higher framerate of 4k120 is nice but I can live without 120fps slow-mo at 4k. Besides that, its just snappier with new processor and the front screen is not choppy low fps anymore. Other things remain the same. gopro also didn't mention if there will be higher res recording for max lens mod. Still waiting on bigger sensor, hdr video. The new tone mapping & better nightime video is marginal improvement. gp9 already got the front display, max lens mod, back to removable lens (can add gp10 hydrophobic lens), 5.3k (don't care about). Maybe gp10 less buggy with faster processor...

If you getting it with GoPro subscription, do note that if you for any reason want to return it back within the return period then you would only get refund for GoPro and not for the subscription which is billed separately at $50.

Also looks like Hero10 still has heating issues on longer periods of recording, so something to keep in mind.

Typical GoPro. They'll just keep dumping new products every year without caring. It's a shame there aren't more real competitors.
I'll take GoPro over a Chinese company any day, but dear lord they're making it hard to not just go DJI.

What cameras out there don't have overheating issues in higher resolutions? If it's a common problem on mirror less full body dslr's what makes you think that GoPro at a quarter the size is ever going to be any better?

Sorry not trying to be combative, I'm genuinely curious.

amex offers don't have any fine print or gotchas. it is always an option to call the customer service and get a courtesy credit. gopro.com/amex is not a real site, it's just a redirect url that probably helps marketing with the tracking (ie it's not a condition of the amex offer). just buy your gopro products directly from gopro and not from bestbuy or anywhere else and you should be fine.

Thanks! I just ordered right from GoPro.com. I'm sure it'll be fine, but just in case I'll contact Amex since i didn't get the email right away saying offer was used

The problem as I've stated is they have released the 10 without even addressing the overheating issue. If you know using higher settings will result in the product shutting down and becoming faulty then either do something about it or reduce the specification. The second problem are people that knows this and stills support such products, thus enabling them.

Not all mirrorless cameras overheating. I beleive canon is the more famous one out there, even with their recent R3 release.

But people take GoPros scooba diving or riding a motorcycle where u got 60+ mph winds cooling it off....there's obvious limitations in every use case and the broad use case for something like an action cam you can't just make a one size fits all. If I had to sacrafice quality or features for my diving or flying recordings cause the same camera overheats when people using it as a web cam or time lapses leaving it out in the sun or doing so on hot days wouldn't make any sense....

It sounds like maybe wrong tool for the job more than anything GoPro is doing wrong. It's a fairly universal issue with 99% of cameras 3 or 4 times the size so I just don't get why it always gets brought up like some sort of gotcha post on every GoPro sd thread lol.

I've gone through like 40 GoPros in my time dating back to the 5. Only ONE of which died due to overheating and that's cause I left it on the dash in the sun doing a time lapse in a heatwave like a moron.

All I'm saying is for the already VERY long list of issues GoPro still has yet to address the overheating issue isn't even on any list for me. Not even the bottom.
