      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

On T-mobile it shows trade-in values as follows, which are much higher than the amounts that Apple and Best Buy are offering. Other than the direct T-mobile trade-in values being bill credits why would anyone take less than half that with this deal? What am I missing?

Are you looking at the forever upgrade values? If so, those are spread out over 30 months. Leave t-mobile earlier and you lose the balance. I am concerned that the bb deal is supposed to lock people in and somebody mucked up the advisory, though.

Would Apple price match with BB price? I pre-orderd a 13 Pro Max this morning for full amount. BB is already a $100 less than Apple's price. Plus BB is giving 290$ for trade-in of iPhone x whereas Apple is giving $200.
I highly doubt they would. The rep I spoke to didn't even know how the Apple Card or Citizens One Installment plans worked. He said the system wouldn't let him price match it for me because I wanted to buy the phone with installments.

Magenta max plan only. You get Unlimited full speed data instead of 100GB (Verizon and ATT only offer 50). Costs way more and this locks you in to that for 30 months... you end up paying much more over long term.

This require you to be on a certain plan usually a high tier plan.
30 month bill credit is not very deal friendly to be honest.

Best Buy deal is instant once you trade in the device in store you'll get the value off the new phone right away and no plan requirement to get the trade in deal
So I didn't miss anything then. I don't view a 30 month contract as being worse than giving up $500 in trade value just to be able to leave sooner.

Yes you are still missing the point. Magenta Max is much pricier for many of us with older plans.
for me it would be 40$ extra a month - 1200$ over 30 Months - so yeah I am still better off with Apple or Best Buy offers...

Tmo deal requires you to upgrade to Magenta Max or a similar Max plan. You generally would end up spending $300 extra (if upgrading from Magenta 1.0 to Magenta Max) over a two year period (basically ends up similar to BB deal). Also, you get locked to 30 months bill credits and a higher monthly rate plan for the future (and risk losing most free line promos if you downgrade after 30 months). With that said, the Max plan makes you eligible for the forever trade in promo. I still think BB is the current best deal (waiting on Costco).

Thanks for the info. I am on the highest AT&T plan so if I switched to T-mobile it would only be for the Magenta Max so I am not factoring in any plan cost increase since it would actually decrease for me on T-mobile.

It's even worse if you are on a One Plan. I've been with tmo for quite some time have 4 lines, 1 free and the one plan with flix and i pay 100 bucks after the 4 lines of kickback because we don't use that much data. If I went with the Max plan 170 so yeah no thanks tmo. The BB deal would be better for me because they give the same 400 on the ipn xs max, well 395 vs 400 with tmo but then bb has that 100 drop but all this requires you to go in store to do anything on a day I'm sure covid monsters will be everywhere so just no thanks all around lol.

I'll wait for the iphone 14 when there's a real upgrade.

MAX is even worse if you are on a family plan. I've got 7 lines at about 20/line... You can't just switch one line to max only all of them. That would be $70 more a month totaling $2100 over 30 months. As only 2 users are iphone users this would be a terrible choice vs just trading in at BB.

So did some math and realized it's not really any great deal. (Good deal so far but not worth my time).
Here is the comparison: Let's say you have 12 Pro Max and wan to go to 13 Pro Max
1. Apple:
12 Pro Max Apple trade in $790.
13 Pro Max unlocked: $1099
Net w/o any taxes: $309

2. T-mo Best Buy:
12 Pro Max BB trade in $875.
13 Pro Max unlocked: $1000
Select Monthly Plan (min value) = $65 * 2 = $130 (You need to keep at least for 2 billing cycles to get it unlocked - 40 days as per the terms)
Let's say you pay Mint Mobile or some other prepaid ($20 monthly), you are paying extra to Tmo = 130 - 40 = $90

Net w/o any taxes: $215

Comparing to Apple trade in for an unlocked phone outright, you are saving about $95. Also, who knows if T Mob charges activation fee of $35. That will bring the effective saving to $60.

Now for some people, it's good saving but I don't really want to go through all the hassle of staying with TMo for 2 mos and unlock it etc.

There is an exception to everything. But on T-Mobile website. It requires 40 days.

What's the phone trade in process at BBY? Do they check the carrier of the trade in device? I ask as sprint/Verizon/att have the extra $100 credit when selecting the trade in device carrier. I used to have sprint sim now tmobile hoping to get away with my trade as sprint
