  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I am still confused about what to do in the case there is an active EIP on the line and receiving monthly credit. Do I need to pay off now? Do I need to ask to unlock the current phone? I don't mind doing those, but want to get it right and to not lose the future credits. During the checkout of this deal, it mentions nothing. Any help is appreciated!

Same here, and I don't think there's a workaround to the problem. I tried calling Best Buy, going to the physical store and calling T-Mobile. T-Mobile says that there's nothing wrong with my account (Simple Choice) and that I should be able to activate the phone. Best Buy says that they can't sell me the phone because T-Mobile will not allow them to access my type of account. I think some of us are just stuck and I don't know what the deal is because some SC customers are able to order the phone while some like you and I are not.
I am thinking about going to the store, but based on your experience, it seems like it won't help. I pre-ordered a phone from Apple for my wife, we are in the same SC plan, and there was no problem.

Another question, if anyone knows if the phone will be ready at the opening of the store (I see 10am of my local store)? I have to catch a plane right after and be out of town for a week.

Does the deal take into account money still owed on phone being turned in? I have an iPhone XR through TMobile with a couple more payments left on it.

I have t mobile... i get that the upgrade is just buying the phone without updating the current plan I am on. However, my s21 ultra will remain my daily driver after buying this iphone 13 pro. My big question is, when I pay the phone off in full right away.. is it 40 days to unlock having to use the phone as my daily driver or activate once, swap the sim back to my s21 ultra and wait 40 days to get an unlock code doable?
Nobody know?

why are you confused? this deal is as simple as buying a new phone and trading in old one.

if you are on EIP, then technically you don't own the phone. If you don't own it, you cannot trade it in. So you need to payoff your old phone before trade in. Your future credits talk to T-Mobile and confirm.

If your phone is not unlocked, its tied to carrier so in your case its T-mobile. If you want to claim your phone is from other carrier than T-mobile (aka unlocked) and get additional $100 trade in promo you need to get it unlocked too.

I could be wrong but upgrade meas upgrade on anything, I mean on a phone it's an upgrade, on a plan it's an upgrade. So basically a phone too.
Tforce just confirmed that it won't change my grandfathered ONE plan

I would not go to the store. Best Buy's phone agent assured me that they could "work out" any issues when I'm at the B&M store. All they did at the store is exactly what I did online (which is entering my phone number and last 4 digits of the social security number). Which then prompted them a message saying that they couldn't proceed further. So I wouldn't waste your time.

I was also able to preorder the iPhone 13 pro from Apple directly on my other line, without any issues.

I'm a T-Mo customer. Got an email from AT&T. Up to $1000 trade in towards a new iPhone 13 models. It is on AT&T website. I think it is only for new customers.

Comparing this offer with the deal Tmobile is offering directly, it seems like T-mobile's deal is better if you have & plan to keep their service.
T-Mobile offers up to $1000 for the trade, which comes in 30 monthly credits that offset the 30 monthly payments for the phone, so you pay nothing for the new phone.
With this Best Buy deal, you pay ~$500 up front for the new phone, but are not committing to keep T-mobile service for a long term.

Am I missing something?

Doesn't T-Mobile deal require magenta max plan?

No, I had the same question that I posted earlier. The T-Mobile $1,000 trade-in deal is good if you have a phone that will qualify for the $1,000 trade-in and want the Magenta Max Plan and want to stay with T-Mobile for at least 30 months.
