  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

what's the point of choosing a carrier if you pay almost full price lol

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I had an issue activating the new SIM card via the T-Mobile.com/sim link. It would not let me select the line that I wanted to activate the New SIM card for. I tried the new phone, my iPad, and my laptop.

So I called T-Mobile via 611, waited for a rep for about 15mins, and they were able to do it fairly quickly once I got hold of a rep.

I had the T-Mobile one plan, neither best buy nor T-Mobile mentioned anything about upgrading the plan
I picked up my phone too from Best Buy. Similar experience as yours... came with a tmobile sim card on top

My phone came with zero battery, so i am giving it a charge.

Did you check if the phone is locked to Tmobile? I was supposed to port over from AT&T but if the phone is unlocked, Can I skip moving over to tmobile?

Thanks for sharing. once you pop the new SIM card in, can you please share the T-Mobile activation experience? Especially interested in confirming if they make you upgrade to the Max plan, since that is a question many had on this forum.
so I put in the new sim , and coulnt call or receive any call . then i logged in to best buy account order, there is a "Set up your phone" button , I clicked that and it asked for my IMEI, i put that in and it worked.

I think you need to put your primary carrier sim in. Then apparently it locks onto that carrier then you can request a unlock at future date.

I dont think this will be a issue now. b/c if you go on BB and select T-Mobile and pick a 12 Pro as trade in, it says $800.

Still debating on if I should do this or not. I'm essentially getting what I paid for the phone but the 12 pro max is still so new its a shame. I know if I wait till next year, it's gonna drop some. decisions decisions.

My mom was at two for $60 and adding a line should have made it three for $90. I will take up the issue with T-Mobile before picking up the phone. Not sure why she is being penalized across all three lines when BestBuy let me click "One" as the plan as opposed to "Magenta."

Dan
That what I used to pay with the One for 3 lines then I upgraded to the Magenta to get more lines with just $5 more per line with autopay

Well - 3 for 90 is worth it. Can't even "chat" with their customer support - my mom has to CALL them. I'll probably end up canceling the order - she already has to be there at time of pick up which is hassle enough for her. If I knew they were doing that I would have selected "upgrade" instead of adding a third line - perhaps the price change could have been avoided.

I ended up popping my tmobile sim. Didnt want to put my AT&T or verizon sim as they have a longer device locking policy.

I had put porting information on Best Buy portal but the sim that came with the phone is pre-activated with a new number. Will need to call Tmobile to fix the issue

Well…I don't think the One plan even allowed you to upgrade your phone because of the plan limitations!
You were lucky that they let you add an additional line because of the 55+ plan limits to 2 lines only that why I switched to the magenta to get more lines!
