  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

Definitely shouldn't have been charged for the SIM card. I wonder if that happened because you ordered in-store? Even then I don't think they charge for SIM cards though. For T-mobile customers it's supposed to be no upgrade or SIM card fees.
Good point. It was possible that it was because I did it in store. I'll check what my receipt says when I get home.

Also, when I went on Saturday to try my chances with the SE, as I was waiting in line, I kept hearing the reps tell the customers that they had to order online for in store pick up for T-Mobile. They said they don't sell them 'on the spot'. So it's possible that's why they charged the $10 as you mentioned.

I did the in store trade in after the preorder failed to show up on their system but the rep removed the $10 sim fee!

So I was one of the Red SE orders
No Go

Order had to be canceled
So I just traded in my iPhone 12 pro for $800.
paid around $107
I was charged $10 for a tmobile SIM card. Didn't see that being posted on here, not sure what happened.
I knew the SE glitch was a long shot
Overall it was a good deal. I bought that 12 pro from apple back when they were doing the $200 trade in promo at Apple for the SE's
You where trading in a Red SE 2020 and it got canceled?

I have my phone pick up date as 10/09 and I am trading in a red SE 2020
But I only got $280 for my trade in since its Unlocked.

I am assuming its only giving issues to those who got the $820 value??

Why are you making it so difficult for the store employees to handle your tradein. They're trying to get you in and out as fast as possible and helping the next customer; also have to deal with all the hiccup with their system. You can try and let us know here. Please don't make a scene if they turn you down because you "decide" to trade in a different color rather the one you said when you placed the order. Also just because someone here said "yes" that doesn't mean all BB will say "yes".
At one point there was a glitch that only offered the $100 trade in promotion to certain colors and not others. That might be why someone choose one color over the other but I think they fixed that on the website and all the colors are receiving the $100 trade in promotion. Hearing how phones were adjusted to receive the "correct" trade in value, i think the color might not be an issue. Of course this is all speculation.

I had an unfilled order from Sept 17 to buy the 13, 128gb. My wife saw that our local BB had the 256gb in stock, in blue, her original chosen color. We went down to the store to buy the 256gb, cancel the original order, and trade in her 2020 SE. We spent two hours there because nobody knew what they were doing and the manager was not nice when he was finally able to get involved. My wife ended up with the 256gb in blue for the $100 price difference. They charged us the $10 for the SIM and refused to take it off. We finally paid for it. It sounds as if the $10 SIM charge is for in-store purchases. In any case, Best Buy proved they were W__Buy. I will never buy from them again.

Yea, I did the order on saturday
Red iPhone SE 2020, the quote was $858.39
It wasn't canceled on it's own.
I went today to try to pick up the 13 pro but it was giving the rep an error about the imei or value being different.
He tried his best but he mentioned there was a memo about certain phones having higher values and those had to be canceled.
Apparently there was a list of devices in that memo.

But yea, the issue was the high $800+ value

Yea, from everyone's experience here I didn't think they charged a sim fee.

I honestly don't mind as much since this phone is basically sold out almost everywhere and they gave us some more money for our trade ins.
$800 trade in for my 12 pro is crazy.

good to know
what data settings do you have your iPhone on?
I noticed for my network it says:
5g UC

I had 5g disabled on my 12 pro since it was horrible.
I'm hoping this 13 pro is better with the 5g

It says "Do not erase your current iPhone or iPad until you restore your temporary backup to your new device."

If I'm correct, you need to factory reset your phone at bestbuy before getting your new phone?
