  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Chatted with T-Mobile via iMessage Business Chat on Sunday and requested an unlock. Was told 72 hours and I would get an email. Yesterday came and went and no email. Decided to try to put in a different SIM card just now to see. Lo and behold, it unlocked.
Did you activate the device or was it still sealed

It was activated. I've been using it since I got it last Friday.

How does anyone order more than one phone to get the multiline discount? When I tried to add a second phone it showed me "This device can't be purchased along with the one in your cart.".

Anybody got their phone in the twin cities. Ordered on 9/18 & the order status still @ "... we'll email you when it's ready..."

Tried to order it again but BB website shows OOS everywhere in the metro area.

The locking part is pretty clear - it will lock to the first SIM inserted. The method for unlocking is the wildcard factor. Long-term holders of lines with T-Mobile are getting 72 hour unlock through customer service. I am a "new" lineholder so I expect to wait 40 days. If I trusted Visible's new unlock methods I'd give it a try. They have zero experience with unlocking since they've sold unlocked phones since inception. I suspect they are sharing a backend process with Verizon who is their parent company. If you are comfortable being forever locked to Visible please try it and tell us what happens in 60 days.

Had a horrible experience with this deal at Best Buy. My iphone 11 was in 'fair' condition (cracked back) - but there was no way to reflect it on the pre order.

So the actual trade in value would be $90 less and I'd owe that difference when I picked it up today. Fair enough, I'd still be getting the $100 trade in promo bonus so my 11 for a 13 mini would be closer to 250 than 140.

After fighting with the clueless employees about the cracked back (not knowing their own policies) It turns out the system has no way to adjust the expected trade in with the actuals. It took an hour and a half of bumbling employees and 2 managers having no clue what to do before they decide to cancel my order. Then, they can't get the T-Mobile upgrade to verify (after telling them that there might be a cooldown period after cancellation) and eventually they tell me no promos apply to buy the phone outright, rather than upgrade. I protest and they all go back to the office to meet with the big boss.

When they eventually disbanded their conference 20 minutes later, the big boss doesn't even come and explain things to me. He sends a lackey to tell me they'll only honor the $100 off the msrp - not the trade in promo bonus that got added in my preorder because they screwed up the verification with T-Mobile.

Never ever will I buy mobiles from Best Buy again. I had my time wasted and walked out paying more than I originally should have on top of having to use my original SIM because they sidelined T-Mobile (this also might throw a wrench in getting the phone carrier unlocked because T-Mobile does not have the device in their system despite it being locked to their network due to best buy incompetence.

The promo reads "*Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working device that turns on
and does not have a cracked or broken screen". The screen was fine. The underlying value is affected, sure but not the extra $100 from the trade in promo

I don't think this will work if Swappa is correct on the US flex devices:

Keep waiting. I received ready to pickup email just now for my delayed 512GB iPhone Pro preordered on Sep 20th.

You created a new account? I have an existing account an ordered 4 phones but in separate orders. 2 of the 4 are ready for pick-up.

I even cancelled 2 orders this morning as I had only ordered second choice color and this morning midnight and blue was available again.

I couldn't immediately reorder as the cancelled lines were blocked or system threw an error when trying to perform upgrade. But after a while I was able to perform another upgrade order on those lines.
