  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Ordered an iPhone 13 128GB White on 9/21. No update so far and status is still "in progress".
My 13 128 Starlight ordered on the 18th was ready for pickup on the 24th, in Miami; I had two actually and cancelled one. They said they weren't allowed to sell the second one, it had to get sent back to Apple...

Have you tried contacting customer support? All they keep saying is that they don't have an expected date and they are just waiting for more inventory from Apple. What's ridiculous is that up until few days ago, if you placed a new order on BB website it would give you a pickup date of 10/15. But pre-order holders don't get any date whatsoever.
I talked with BB rep and got the same answer. No ETA so far and just wait for notification from store.

Good to know. Looks like the inventory went fast in my state.

Many are getting their phones unlocked within a few days of purchase. Or you can wait 40 days which "was" their minimum. Monthly credits are not required for this deal. Definitely no long term commitment. Tons are buying and leaving asap. And yes, Tmobile/BestBuy are subsidizing their discounts.

T-Mobile on twitter told me this . So they are unlocked if you activate with international sim
Thank you for the info. I was doing some research and I was able to see that the iPhones sold in Best buy will automatically lock to the first sim that is placed inside of it. If the device has not been used yet you can send it to your brother and it will work with whatever sim he places in it. He should not have any issues with it. If he ever wants to use it with another company where he lives he would just need to do a restore using iTunes to get it unlocked and ready to use with another carrier. If that doesn't work you can always reach out to us to get that unlocked. Please let me know what other questions you have on this. I am here to help.

That's definitely not what's described here:
https://swappa.com/faq/answer/us-...lex-policy

What you said about inserting an international SIM looks to be extremely risky.

It's not risky, it just won't do anything

Just swapped old sim and inserted the BESTBUY new sim card , 5G speed 2 time faster

So A SIM card that was activated in a 4G device will still work with a 5G device, but you may have trouble connecting to the 5G network mix speed..

For those still waiting on a pending order, it looks like Best Buy does not honor pre-orders if new stock arrives at local stores. In other words, new stock is up for grabs rather than going towards filling existing pre-orders at the local store.

What you need to do is place a brand new order if you see local inventory (shows up on the product page, for example, "1 in stock at xyz location - ready for pick up in one hour.")

Place the order and select pick up at xyz location and more likely than not, it'll be ready for pick up within the hour/tomorrow. After pickup, just cancel your original pending order. This worked for two of my pending orders that were supposed to be "ready by 10/15." And yes, I was able to use the same tmo line to upgrade multiple orders.

I have a international SIM card and I will test it out . Worst case if it gets locked to international carrier , I will return it to Best Buy stating it's not working or defective

Picked up my phones on Friday, when the supervisor at Best Buy got things working on the system again, and tossed in free screen protectors and knocked $100 off per phone. They did have to open and activate both phones on the spot and charge me for the 2 sim cards, but T-Mobile was nice enough to refund me the cost for them when I messaged them over Facebook.

Unlocking the phones is different matter since the T-Mobile rep told me that the phones come unlocked from Best Buy but they were locked to the sims that was used to activate the phones. So they are working on unlocking them and hopefully that can be done in the next couple of days.
