This was a clear instance of bait and switch. In my state that's a class A misdemeanor. I'll give them 1 opportunity to make it right before I contact my AG.
This comment combined with your username made me laugh out loud. I certainly hope this is sarcasm. LMAO

Not a bit of sarcasm. They refused to correct thier illegal practices. My state attorney general had been notified. As for the username meh I'm calm enough they just need to do the right thing.

Honestly, before typing in my credit card info and hitting "Submit Order," I will admit that I looked at the domain name a few times and made the mental note that there was probably a 50/50 chance that "tacticalassaultgear.com" was either a scam altogether and my card info was being stolen, or they were going to pull some BS like this. Guess we all found out the hard way. At least we're in it together.

In other news, does anyone else hate it when that something just flies across the room and latches onto your face? God, I hate that. I mean, what even is that thing?

You know what? I didn't see your point at first, but you've convinced me.

Like you, I will no longer stand idly by while the upstanding members of this site are denied their constitutional right to a half price Leatherman Super Tool 300 Multi-tool w/ Leather Sheath. Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves at this injustice, and it must be corrected.

By the time you're reading this reply, I will have made phone calls to local, state, and federal law enforcement regarding this issue.

Thank you for encouraging me to do the right thing.

You can poke and kid. This is a business practice known as bait and switch. It in many places is illegal. This negatively impacts me due to having $100 locked up while they "issue a refund". TAG has a history of doing this very thing. This is a classic predatory business practice and I personally get tired of these types of things. They will go on my no buy list. Hopefully they will be fined and thier practices forced to change.

Why would the mods delete their posts?

I received an order confirmation and then a cancellation/refund e-mail a day or so later, but never saw any charges against my CC.
I think a company representing itself here would be considered self-promotion, and that is against the forum rules.

As much as it sucks to not get a sweet Leatherman for half price, this whole thing honestly seems like a pricing mistake and the vendor isn't liable for that.

Could they have handled this better? Yes.

Are they being malicious? Probably not.

A bait and switch tactic would be if they responded with "Oh, that's not available at that price, but we can sell it to you for $XX instead" or shipped a cheaper version of the item we thought we were purchasing. Traditionally, it would be a B&M retailer advertising a deal that's too good to be true to get people to spend the effort to get to their store and forcing them into a sunken cost situation, but in this case, with it being a website, you wasted the effort of a few clicks?

If you paid with a credit card, then the $100 that's "locked up" isn't actually your money, it's the bank's, and you have the power of initiating a chargeback if the retailer doesn't refund the transaction.

Damaging their own reputation is a cost they'll incur from this, but contacting your AG over something like this is laughable. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Actually bait and switch is purposely luring in a customer with an item you don't intend to sell, then trying to sell them a more expensive item. It's incredibly difficult to prove because you have to show they never had stock to begin with or have stock they're unwilling to sell for the stated price. However the cancellation email gave me 2 coupons, one for literally the same tool but with a 15% discount.

So the real question is did anyone actually have this product shipped or were we all canceled and offered coupons? If no one received the product then it's bait and switch.

The other problem here is they didnt put an auth hold on everyone's credit card then released it when they didn't have the product. They fully charged each card and now have to issue a refund. I don't think there's anything strictly illegal about this but this is a serious WTF practice. I don't remember the last time I was fully charged for an item before it shipped.

Anybody see the refund on your credit cards yet? I have a charge on the 19th, not seeing a refund yet on the 24th.

Card charged September 20. No refund so far. Checked with CC rep and she said there is nothing she can see regarding initiation of a refund from TAG/LCI Online company. Yep.

nope--same here. fully charged on the 19th and no credit in CC activity yet. Charging before shipping is a very internet 1.0 kind of a move

So why do they have the same item for 77.99 on clearance section. But I contacted them they say that this item is out of stock. I ordered three. Got charged on my CC. I filled a dispute against them. I didn't wait any time after I see the way they handled this situation. Don't buy anything from them. Poor customer service.

I got charged on the 18th and received the cancellation e-mail dated 9-22-2021 7am. On that email it says "your card used for the purchase has been refunded" I gave it few days for it to show on my CC but didn't see any activity on my account. So today I called the CC company and talked to CC rep. I asked if TAG already did anything on the refund and CC rep said nothing has been done yet from the merchant. I was told that the CC company will give the amount back on my card in 2 to 3 days and they will contact the TAG and try to resolve the issue.
