nowadays, Office Depot are marking thing higher than what their value is. Even is 100% back, but it will be more future use. Amazon is selling $16 for 72 with other brands for AA battery. If you have time can deal with office depot, sure. Otherwise, not worthy buying from them...

Nowadays? Where have you been?

They always have charged way over retail value for these.

The way to do this to your advantage is to:

Be a rewards member of course.
Spend $10 a month out of your pocket. This deal is a great opportunity to do that.
Recycle 10 ink cartridges that month which rewards you $20 to spend there later.
To cash rewards out, look for price matching opportunities. Guess what? You can do a PM for this deal also! The only benefit is less taxes out of your pocket but you will get less rewards, which is a good thing because that means less money tied up to use there.
Buy stamps with rewards about to expire as a last-ditch plan if you don't find anything you need that can be price matched for a reasonable price.
Another option is to look for sale items or clearance items while recycling and/or shopping in person or online.

This is the best possible use of your side-gig of OD/OM rewards. If you don't do these things, not much benefit, but still some.

Agreed. I used Duracell for years. Then one year they began leaking and ruining every device I put them in. Energizer only from now on.

I've done this Office Depot/Duracell dance a few times in the past and always discouraged when at least 1-2 devices using even older Duracells (when they were new), would have leak issues and PITA to clean-up. I have a set now that says they are good thru 2025 and they are leaking at an even higher rate. Could be bad batch or just crappy manuf process or engineering. I'd vote the latter since I've had some leak sitting in the new pkg and not used for 1 year or so.

I now use Sanyo/Eneloop-type rechargeables or recently got some Energizer Lithium's for devices which recommend them and in the pics below you'll see tons of Duracells with frosty or tarnished caps where they've been leaking or starting to leak. So sad! Mad

Great deal for me. Three things I use lots of for business purposes:

1. AAA batteries.
2. Boxes of Printer Paper.
3. Postage Stamps.

I buy the batteries. Then as soon as I get the rewards, immediately flip them for a free box of paper or postage stamps.

Lots of people pissing on this deal. If you don't need the deal, then move on. For some of us that know how to work this deal, it is a great deal.

I see dates on those batteries from 2016. You are expecting 5 year expired batteries not to leak all over the bag and contaminate all the rest of the batteries? They off gas in that plastic bag, and make a big mess of everything.
