nowadays, Office Depot are marking thing higher than what their value is. Even is 100% back, but it will be more future use. Amazon is selling $16 for 72 with other brands for AA battery. If you have time can deal with office depot, sure. Otherwise, not worthy buying from them...

Nowadays? Where have you been?

They always have charged way over retail value for these.

The way to do this to your advantage is to:

Be a rewards member of course.
Spend $10 a month out of your pocket. This deal is a great opportunity to do that.
Recycle 10 ink cartridges that month which rewards you $20 to spend there later.
To cash rewards out, look for price matching opportunities. Guess what? You can do a PM for this deal also! The only benefit is less taxes out of your pocket but you will get less rewards, which is a good thing because that means less money tied up to use there.
Buy stamps with rewards about to expire as a last-ditch plan if you don't find anything you need that can be price matched for a reasonable price.
Another option is to look for sale items or clearance items while recycling and/or shopping in person or online.

This is the best possible use of your side-gig of OD/OM rewards. If you don't do these things, not much benefit, but still some.

Unlikely there will be,a back-to-back offer. They have typically had 1-3 week gap over the last 18 months or so. You just have to wait until midnight on offer start day to see it online.

That would qualify as out of pocket spend, and earn rewards for this.

Merchandise cards (Either a true gift card with a return credit added to it or a straight-up return merch card) would not qualify to earn rewards. They convert a gift card to a merch card if you add return credit to it, (ie, combining in order to keep less cards in your wallet) so never do that.

Typically they alternate weekly between regular Duracells and the Optimums. They have been having one or the other most weeks, but you just never know. Frankly, I was surprised there was nothing last time, which was the week I wanted to make my spend. Murphy's Law. The good news is that I didn't have to shop for anything requiring brains after all.
IOW, these are the no-brainer option for monthly minimum spend.

My experience has not shown any advantage for the Optimums, which are more per battery. So I prefer the regular Duracell deals. Maybe the Optimums have less occurrences of leakage, but only time will tell.

Yup, astute observation and you got me on that one - there are both new and old batteries in there, which just means I have a long and sordid relationship w/ Duracell and at this point will simply say no as they as the WORST NAME-BRAND BATTERY EVER. Smilie

I decided to respond to this late since I received another reminder of why I should have sworn off Duracell's long, long ago - maybe back before 2016 when those others expired.

The leakage seen in that bag may be accentuated from being in an (open) plastic bag w/ other leaking batteries, but unfortunately all those Duracells are in there because they were leaking before being removed.

Attaching 2 pics showing a 2027 battery that was starting to leak by itself, and separately 2 Duralock-branded Duracells which are they supposed to be better at anything? These were in a multimeter, always left indoors so not subjected to any extreme temps or abuse.
Just sitting there waiting to be used a few times a month. Those show expiration 12/2022 and I'm fine with them going to 0V by the date shown, but seems there's no "won't leak and ruin your electronics" guarantee on these Dubioucell batteries. Never had these problems when I was a kid many years ago, but seems Duracell has cornered the market on leaky batteries the past couple decades.

For those that buy these, hope you fare much better.
