That's what I need to know. I don't have a huge house so I don't need a fancy mesh network. I'm currently only getting a quarter of the internet speed I'm paying for via wi-fi. I know that could be caused by a variety of factors. Technically, my modem and router should support the full speed, but my router is old and probably due for a replacement anyway, at least for security's sake.

You can't compare AC to AX. AX support WiFi 6. If you have any devices that use WiFi 6 it will be a huge upgrade depending on your internet speed.

That's AC and not AX like this one. You can use this router as an AP as well. It's better to upgrade everything to AX if you are using wifi6.

FYI, the mesh technology that this router supports with other tp-link routers does not support a wired backhaul and wifi performance is reportedly not great.

The dual in the "dual band" means it does both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
