Yourself. Takes 10 min. No tools required for me.

Pretty easy to install. The videos on their site are very detailed and their support team is very responsive as well

I realize a lot of folks here are unhappy with the device / service. I have the flume 2 and it has worked perfectly. Their support has been pretty good as well. I was grandfathered in before the insight subscription became effective - but the reason I purchased this was for leak detection.

only issue with this is that if the strap around the meter becomes lose or if moves out of alignment, the device does not alert you to that. so, it will show zero usage for days in a row, but doesn't alert you to the possibility that there is a problem. Keeping the strap tight will prevent this, but it is a simple fix from the software perspective (if zero usage based on usage pattern, alert user)

No. The subscription lets you see detailed usage. The Orbit sprinkler integration also works without a subscription.

Just a heads up - this company does some major bait and switch. I got the Flume 1 and they have consistently removed features since launch, including the text alerts which were pretty critical as that was one of the only ways to setup multi device alerts.
Removed Brazilian Rainforest Store link per moderator's request - see reason below. Definitely don't go there directly and search, as it would circumvent any share paid back to the site owner.

Yes, but that deal can't be posted on SlickDeals because it's a 3rdparty seller with less than 1000 feedback. The rules don't allow those to be posted here, regardless of whether the seller is the manufacturer or not. I've been told by the moderation staff that the application of this rule is a a private matter and is not to be discussed in the Hot Deals forum, so if there is any concern about the rule, we should take it to Deal Talk or one of the appropriate forums.
I've had this for a few months now after dealing with some ridiculous high water bills.

It's a nice to have and is probably a savior to some, but I've soured a bit on the company after they've introduced this subscription plan. Allegedly, I'm grandfathered into their "detailed" data and AI stuff, but it's the same data that was available prior to their subscription model, so just an annoying money grab IMO.

Setup is surprisingly easy and is seemingly very accurate. Guess overall it's recommended if you're seriously worried about leaks, but you're going to get a lesser product than it was prior to the subscription, or pay more in their subscription to get access to their data metrics.

I had to replace the batteries in the Flume 1 and it was shocking how many screws had to be removed to do it. I kept the screws a little bit loose when I reassembled the case, to make it easier next time.
Looks like they fixed that design in Flume 2.
I don't see a big reason to upgrade at this point.

Interesting...I had no idea about that.

Indoors or outdoors? Why did they make you take it off?

Yeah, I can't imagine the Miami-Dade water dept. allowing you to attach a device to their water meter.

I got in on the ~$50 I think deal last year when it was closing out. Already saved my @$$ on the first day of week long vacation got a leak notification and had city come turn off water. Turns out the sprinkler next to house had busted and would have flooded yard and possible ruined foundation if I hadn't caught it

I think that's the big reason - or if you connectivity issues. My Flume 1 had water damage - 12 screws and water gets in?! So I was lucky to get a replacement Flume 2.

The big reason I'd choose a Flume 2 over the 1 is the promised feature that identifies water usage from different sources. So you should be able to tell if your water is being used by the dishwasher vs the washing machine.... BUT they just released it as annual subscription. I love having too much data - but I'm not paying $50 a year to discover that I could save $10 in water if I replace my dishwasher...
