Just a heads up - this company does some major bait and switch. I got the Flume 1 and they have consistently removed features since launch, including the text alerts which were pretty critical as that was one of the only ways to setup multi device alerts.

Removed Brazilian Rainforest Store link per moderator's request - see reason below. Definitely don't go there directly and search, as it would circumvent any share paid back to the site owner.

Yes, but that deal can't be posted on SlickDeals because it's a 3rdparty seller with less than 1000 feedback. The rules don't allow those to be posted here, regardless of whether the seller is the manufacturer or not. I've been told by the moderation staff that the application of this rule is a a private matter and is not to be discussed in the Hot Deals forum, so if there is any concern about the rule, we should take it to Deal Talk or one of the appropriate forums.

I've had this for a few months now after dealing with some ridiculous high water bills.

It's a nice to have and is probably a savior to some, but I've soured a bit on the company after they've introduced this subscription plan. Allegedly, I'm grandfathered into their "detailed" data and AI stuff, but it's the same data that was available prior to their subscription model, so just an annoying money grab IMO.

Setup is surprisingly easy and is seemingly very accurate. Guess overall it's recommended if you're seriously worried about leaks, but you're going to get a lesser product than it was prior to the subscription, or pay more in their subscription to get access to their data metrics.

I hooked up my flume 1 about 8 months ago. Love it but not looking forward to the battery changes. Mine was buried in sand so digging in the dirt to locate mine was not all that fun! But once its hooked up its great. Wished they still had push alerts to your cell phone via text message, as sometimes I have to re-log into my app to get the push alerts.

If this works for you, it easily pays for itself once you find a leak because of it. Have had mine for a while now and has detected a few small and large leaks that I was able to quickly resolve.

I think my time for usage was roughly 1.5 years. So pretty good overall. It takes 4 AA lithium batteries, I think less than $10 on Amazon.
that's weird, I wonder why I'm almost at 1.5 years but almost no battery usage but you had to replace yours?

Could be a lot of reasons, but the main one is probably excessive usage of the device compared to you.
1) I have an underground water sprinkler that runs for 1-2 hours every 3rd day.
2) Four ppl in my household, and kids take long showers. Also lots of dishes to clean.
3) Wife works from home full time, so she uses bathroom/kitchen during day. In other households, house could be empty all day.

I don't have sprinklers working that much but I do have a yard, greenhouse that is connected to water, raised garden and all that is watered. 3 kids that take long showers and baths and my wife and I both work from home most of the time. We cook a lot, have an RO system which wastes a bunch of water. But 1-2 hours of watering is a ton of watering.

Is the subscription needed to use this?
subscription gives you per second usage update.
"no subscription" gets per hour usage update.

for both, data can be presented in hour, in day, in current year, in last year, and in last two years. I don't have data pass two years yet, so i don't know if data is stored more than two years.

subscription gives:
access to API
access to Flume's AI which identifies the application based on the usage pattern, and label data accordingly. (i.e. washing machine, dish washer, toilet, etc.)

Note:
battery replacement of Flume 2 is just 4x AA in a stacked battery holder.
no need to buy Flume's $20 special replacement battery.

Quote from UN0335 :
$19. Apparently it is 4 AA Energizer Lithium batteries in some type of pack. Not sure if you could DIY, with just the 4 new batteries.
yes you can DIY it. keep the battery holder. Replace the dead AA battery with new. Stick it back into the ground.

Pack of 24 Energizer AA Lithium Batteries cost about $20 or $15 when its on sale,
while Flume charge you for $20 for 4 Replacement Energizer AA Lithium Batteries.

I have11 zones of sprinkler heads in my property, and each zone has 4 or 5 heads. During the summer, I run each zone at least 20 minutes.

The city of Mesa AZ made me take mine off, flume was nice enough to give me a full refund after a year of use,
I've had mine for over a year and City of Phoenix hasn't said anything to me about it yet... I guess Mesa's a bunch of sticklers. Maybe depends on your brand of water meter? I have a badger water meter and the Flume hasn't disrupted signal that I'm aware of. Still getting my water bill every month!

I have a Flume 2 from Father's Day 2021 (before they started subscription service). They grandfather old users like me into some features like per-minute readings, sprinkler system usage detection, and usage history/alerts. Indoor device detection is not grandfathered, nor are any new features they come up with in the future.

I also have an Orbit B-Hyve. Flume keeps track of water use per-zone when the accounts are linked, which is cool.

Some of the local water companies provide rebates on this device. I got full credit for order from SAW last year, so please check and see if you qualify.

I tried this but ended up returning it.. it did detect leaks, however, it would not detect leaks that were low-flow enough for me to warrant using it. If I turned a bathroom faucet on about 1/4 of the way open, it would not detect the flow.. I'd have to go to about 1/3rd of the way open for it to detect the flow. Same with slow-leaking irrigation - a slow leaking irrigation valve would not be detected, but a wide open valve would be. If I had a dripping toilet fitting or something similar, unfortunately I don't think this would detect it.

I'm sure this would be useful for a lot of people, just know it may not pick up very low-flow/minor leaks. I ended up buying a bunch of individual smart leak detectors and putting them under every sink/toilet/etc.
I have the Flume 1 and have the same issue. During the Texas freeze I left my faucet dripping over night and Flume didn't detect anything. It's only good for large leaks unfortunately.
